I have to ask this question, yesterday I finally quite procrastinating and went and had my license renewed. Now, normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but next week I am having a very large birthday (at least in my eyes), and I just wasn't ready to come to terms with it yet. So I had my hair highlighted, I put make-up on, a shirt that didn't have any stains on it and off I went. Everything was going well until the gentlemen behind the counter asked me my weight! Are you kidding me, do we have to tell that to a complete stranger, I don't even tell my husband what I weigh and now I have to tell a stranger. So my question is farm girl sisters, did you fudge your weight on your drivers license? I did and I am not ashamed a bit!

Lea that is funny. But I know no matter how many they take of me this face it won't do them any good. it will be the same face every time. LOL! Do you ever wish you could make a weird face when they are doing it just to see if they would let you leave it that way?? hehe.

Denise no one else would get a turn after me because I would be yelling "try again". I will be thinking of this thread in Feb. when I have to renew and my smile will be genuine:)

Lea~ they do let us do retakes here. In fact they will do as many as we want until we are happy with it. I just take the first one because I figure no matter how many they take it is still going to be me and it won't make any difference. LOL!

Just a note ladies we do tend to shorten with age as the disc in our backs have a tendency to shrink which in turn shortens our height. As for the weight. They don't ask us here and our licenses are good for four years. My mom used to say she was 5'6" because that is what it says on her license, she is about 5'2" bless her heart.

You bet I fudge it! I justify it by telling myself that people who I reveal my true weight too always act shocked and say I don't look like I weigh near that much!

Those are too funny. Wish they would let us do retakes.

Melody - that's so true. A friend of mine had on turtle neck the same color as the background (kind of a peachy color)for an ID card - the turtle neck part was scrunched down (not folded over) - she looks like her neck is incredibly wrinkly and could extend like ET's. Its very funny.

Whatever you do make sure the shirt you are wearing isn't the same color as the background for the photo...I know from past experience. My last driver ID photo appeared to have me floating in a cloud of blue! Just my head mind you. I still get double takes from the Wal-mart checkers....

Corrine I agree. If the jeans get to tight time to workout. When I went for my physical the weight wasnt what bothered me as much as being told I was shorter. I told the nurse she was wrong, I had been 5'10" all my life. She said ok lets do it again. Then she looks at me and says I cant stretch you! So humbling. lol.

I leave the weight as is on my drivers license - which is ~ 20 lbs lighter... And even though my hair has a lot of gray, I leave it brown. Makes me smile...

It's funny, but everytime I've renewed my license, the person behind the counter has asked, "do you want the same height and weight listed?" Hmmm....why yes, I do WANT the same weight listed as when I was TWENTY! Am I the same weight? Heck, no! My grandmother, who passed away in her mid-90s used to tell me a woman was entitled to any reality about her age or appearance she wanted, and HILARIOUSLY used to tell people she was 80 when she was really 90! I used to laugh my backside off at that one! I really miss her!

We just changed states so we had to get new licenses. They asked if I was the same weight as I was on my IN license and I said, "Yes" but when I got the new one, I realized I'd been saying yes since I was 25 pounds lighter! Oh well, It wasn't an "on purpose" lie but still I felt a little guilty...just a little. If that's the worst thing I did that day, I figure I'm in pretty good shape. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Wow, I can't believe you have to state your weight! Here in Canada, they want your height, but not weight.

Julie,

I just got mine renewed on the fourteeth and I put my real weight, but for some reason they put me ten pounds lighter, lol! So, I figured it's there, I'm leaving it. I have lost a bit of weight all by myself and everyone is always telling me how amazing I've done, so...if they see me as ten pounds lighter, then so be it.

I just round mine. It's going to fluctuate anyway so there's no point in saying 126.4 for example. Since it doesn't have to be renewed again for quite awhile I consider it just a generalization. People can change a LOT in a few years. Imagine the guy from the Subway commercials who lost all that weight. A policeman would have a hard time believing the description on his license.

Oh Don't get me wrong, I am totally content with who I am, and I do work out everyday and I like the person I see in the mirror. I just think it is anybodys business what I weigh. I have been a size 10 all my life and that is just fine with me. And I was happy with my picture this time too!

I don't think I was asked that and I just went to have mine renewed this past week...no, I know I wasn't. The only thing they asked me was if my address was still the same and if I wanted to donate a dollar to the organ donation thingee, and if I was still an organ donor. I was happy with my picture this time--too bad they don't renew these things for 4 years! That old one was horrible!!!

As an aside, I get down on myself now and again, but I really am largely satisfied with "who" I am--and if my husband thinks I'm beautiful, then that's all that matters :)

I've been known to round my number down about 20 pounds... The only thing they might *really* need the number for worst case scenario is to figure out how many guys it's going to take to put you on a stretcher, right? ;)

Actually I always give my correct weight. It does not matter to me if a complete stranger knows my weight, nor my Husband either. I always wonder, if I am afraid to face myself as I truly am, how can I make true improvements? And if I am not honest about something so insignificant as my weight, how can honestly know who I am?

Just my humble opinion, but women worry too much about how much they weigh. If you do not like your weight, workout, change your diet and change it.
