I went over to the St. Vincent Depaul store on my lunch hour, mostly to kill some time after I scarfed down my soup, and in their little "craft" area, was a big rubbermaid bin of Lamb's Pride yarn, Noro yarn, Malabrigo yarn, Irish linen/cotton blends, silk/cotton blends, all still in their original brand wraps, no weird smells, never used, all colors that I would love to knit with and colors that other people would love, too. My knitting shop is just around the corner, so I'm thinking these were discontinued colors that didn't sell at a decreased price in store and they wrote them out--but it could also be that someone thought they were going to love knitting and just didn't...regardless, I snatched up a brown paper grocery bag filled to the top with all these amazing yarns. Probably about $120 for .25 cents a piece--my total was $6.25.

This will help with some Christmas gifts, and some charity knitting that I planned on doing!

What a blessing that find was for you Jonni. I like that
some of it is going to charity causes. My friend knits baby
hats for newborns in hospitals and I will now be on the lookout
for a good deal on yarn like you found. Thanks for sharing
your excellent find with us!

Jonni, it sounds like you hit the jackpot! I agree with Marcy, you can never have to much yarn. Happy knitting!

I'm super excited, Paula. All of the yarn is awesome, but the Noro is calling me for a couple of new hats for my 2 year old. It's really bright and fun!

Thanks, Kris--yeah, on the way back to the office, my head started spinning with all kinds of ideas and I had to remember that I only have 2 hands and a limited amount of daylight :) I really was super excited to find it, though--and you never know, a few months back a church volunteer was on Craig's List looking for yarn donations for their knitting guild, who knit for charity--I gave her a ton of stuff, so I could share again!
