I was told by a friend who was having a hard time buying raw milk
legaly, that several dairys are now advertising it as "pet food", but it is still bottled they same way, with the same precautions as it would be for humans, so you that are having a hard time, try looking for it as "pet food"...

I can't stand the taste of milk from the store. Milk should be from a cow(or goat, etc) NOT the grocery store :)

I really enjoy having our dairy goats. I am not looking forward to drying her off for breeding. I too, cannot wait for my own jersey cow. Thanks for the tip.

My grandfather used to have a "certified dairy" that could sell raw milk in NY but that was back in the 40's. When I lived in Atlanta, I had to pay extra to buy raw milk from a health food store. I'm sure I could ask some of the Amish in the area if I could purchase it from them but I haven't tried yet.

in oregon we can sell raw milk from 3 jersey cows legally. we cannot advertise raw milk for people. we can however advertise for pet food. i post on craigs but say it is human quality but advertised for pets due to law. i love raw milk. i am having it in my coffee as i type. happy days sherrye

When we bought our does 3 years ago, the seller gave us 2 gallons of frozen milk to take with us, when I asked why she did not sell it she said she had so much surplus for a couple of days they just froze it and after freezing there is no way to color it green without thawing it out. She said to sell it as "pet food" milk has to be dyed green and she refused to pay the $300 license fee and other incurred costs to sell raw milk for human consumption. I would be a bit uneasy serving green milk to my family, even if I knew it was just colored.

Yes- many states don't allow the selling of unpasturized dairy for human consumption. It is frustrating because I prefer raw milk. It tastes much better to me and I feel like the milk is healthier. I know there are disagreeing studies but I think that as long as the dairy is clean then you are safe.
