I ladies, I live in California now but am in Idaho this week looking for my retirement home. We want acerage, view, and country life. Found a amazing house in a small community called MELBA. It's in Canyon county.... anybody know anything about it? weve searched the areas all the way up to caldwell as far as boise.. but fell in love with this small town. Any tips, advise, or words of anykind regarding this area would be apppreciated.

Thanks ladies, we found a place in Nampa out in the country that we loved.... and we put in a bid and expect to hear next week. It is in out in the country, but about 10 minutes to town. We drove through the towns of caldwell, saw some rough areas, then we drove to Melba and the town was very distraught. Lots of poverty in the town. made me sad... then we drove through Nampa, liked what we saw and read anything we could online.... the house is a two story newer home on two square acres... nice big lot. Enough for my hobby FARM.
We hope we get it.

Sandpoint is my favorite town in Idaho, so far. It is sort of like Ashland, OR meets the old west. The lake is spectacular. You might run into Harrison Ford shopping.
I saw Ben Stein in Walmart.

I used to live in New Plymouth ID (Payette County just across the river from Ontario OR). Caldwell isn't a great location to move to. A lot of gang activity there. There is a good hospital there though, I gave birth to my daughter there. Nampa is nicer and has good shopping, at least for what I was interested in. Boise is a beautiful city if you like cities. The river runs through it and it has some really nice areas. I don't think you'd need much of anything that you can't buy in Boise. Lots of shopping. Melba, I think you'll want to check the water on your property. When we were first moving up there I think it was Melba that we were told can have some bad water, as in not safe to drink. Check into it because I can't remember for sure. Don't move to Parma. Eagle is expensive but has some really nice areas. If you are wanting to retire, as in NOT looking for work, Weiser is a charming town. I fell in love with it. But there's zero work available there.
