Our family used to have a family Web site, but it cost too much each year. Do any of you know of one that is free and can be set up privately for specific viewers?

Can blogger do that also (limit specific viewers)?

I want to start up a family Web site, limited to family, to post family history research, and other information.

Any help would be appreciated.

We used family.com before, but it raised the price each year. I'd really like to find something free or of very little cost.

i know how to make a website that cost very little but dont know how to make it so no one can find it, but i do know that if you make a web site and never advertise it they dont get alot of hits, or views.
our website costs us 11.00 a year, but could be as cheap as .99 a year.
e mail me if you want more information

Geni.com charges $12.95/year for basic membership. I am looking for a free site.

I looked at Geni.com. Can I make private settings so only our family members view the tree?

I looked in the Settings part of Blogger and there are several options under Permissions. There's only certain readers, which you make a list of, or blog authors. You can designate your family members as readers or authors. They will have to be registered with Blogger to participate, but it's free. For the family tree, you can always write it out somewhere else/another template and save it to your computer. You could Add A Gadget and pick Add A Picture and upload the family tree. Hope this helps. Come back if you have any more questions. There's so many bloggers here that someone will have an answer.

....adding

I'd like to find one that includes space to write out the family tree also.
