Spent the day up North and took a few photos!

What is your favorite thing about Fall?

For me it's the explosion of autumn scents~ Outside its fallen leaves, and the aroma of apples and plums tossed about on the ground. In the house it's the smell of apple pie cooling on the counter and making plum jelly all afternoon!

Ahhh....Fall. I love it. The colors, the cool air, the smell of fallen leaves.

I make a soap that the scent reminds me so strongly of fall at a wooded lake cabin (that smell of leaves again). I love it, love it, but it rarely strikes a chord with customers. And can't figure out how they can't love that fall outdoorsy scent. Oh, well. More for me!

Oh lovely pictures. This is supposed to be the prettiest time of year here, but frankly this year weather wise is the pits. The drought in the spring, thehurricane that hit in early September, and now the 25+ inches of rain we are over, have all contributed to no fall color, and just leaves that wither and fall off the trees. So disappointing. It's been so weird here!

Melody, I agree, the colors right now are just gorgeous. I am looking outside the house at a beautiful red maple and we have been walking in the woods at our land enjoying the colors. The drive to Madison yesterday was amazing, as was the soccer game on the shores of Lake Monona. I love sitting by a firepit in the cool fall, this is my favorite time to camp (with my knitting in hand). My garage smells like apples right now, and we are canning green tomato pickles right now. This is the best time of the year and one of the reasons I moved back to Wisconsin from Texas 20 years ago:)

Melody!
What beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing with us. Could you blow some of that cold air down south to Louisiana??????
We did get a cool spell, in the high 70s. LOL
Enjoy your Fall.

Lorraine- If I hadnt already read your response mine would have been identical! I love to sit out by the firepit at night wrapped up sipping tea or eating soup from a mug...love having those windows open to the fresh cool air at night and having to snuggle just a bit more. I love everything about fall!

I love fall - the chill in the air, sleeping with the windows wide open, drinking hot tea outside in the morning all bundled up, having a fire in the firepit in the evenings, making applesauce, picking bittersweet, colorful leaves, fall mums, seeing the fall warblers migrate through... Its wonderful. Beautiful photos - thanks for sharing.

Oh my Melody! Those are lovely photos!

As for fall, I'm an autumn girl all the way! I love all of the autumnal colors scents and tastes. I love the bright orange of pumpkins in a great pile outside the market, I love the spicy scents of baked goods that you can finally bake because the weather has cooled down enough to actually enjoy baking. I love the golden leaves swirling down and skittering along the ground, I love the smell of wood smoke, the soft light of candles, the faded denim blue autumn sky, lovely sweaters that have been put away all spring and summer ...I could go on and on Autumn just started to show in the last few days here in North Idaho and I'm loving it!

Smiles!

My favorite thing is sleeping so well at night in the cool weather and then having to take of a sweater in the afternoon. Our colors here in NY (PA border) are kind of dull due to all the rain we have had. oh well. I'll enjoy your beautiful pics
