I try very hard in this life not to whine...but I am really having a bad day. I have cried off and on for half of it and I don't have a clue why other than that my thyroid is messed up and I am going fruit loops. Anybody else have that problem?? I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease with low thyroid about a year ago and then Friday I found out that my numbers are off the chart high and they can't figure out why. I am jittery, teary, pooped and my heart is going 90 miles to nothing. I think I'm a veritable enigma to the medical community. :-( Anyway, thanks for letting me type my frustration. I feel better now...I think. :-)

For sure, Amy. I felt kind of funny typing my whines but it sure felt good when I hit "submit"! It was like I had come out of my shell and exposed my real self. :-) I am doing much better. I am still feeling like I have run a relay race (heart rate is 93 resting) so I just want to lay down at the oddest times, but my outlook has improved greatly and I am getting things done. No more tears! :-) I've been reading lots of scripture and that has helped more than anything. God is so good.

Hope things are getting better, Mary Beth. I hate those days that are just plain "tough". And I love that we can come here and vent and people won't think we are whining or any less tough of a farmgal if we are having a "tough" day. Hugs to you!

Perhaps the meds you were taking at first were from the former formula for Armour (the one so many patients did really well on) and then maybe when you had it refilled it was the new formula. Check around on line. Many thyroid patients are struggling to get balanced. Good luck.

Thanks, Susan. Actually, I have been on Armour Thyroid and I thought I was doing great but maybe I metabolize it too well??

Mary Beth - One thing I forgot to mention. I don't know what type of med you're taking but wanted to be sure you know that the formula for Armor sold here in the United States changed within the last two years. This is not the med I take but many thyroid patients are having a wild time getting themselves balanced again after the manufacturing changes. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

Today is another day. I am feeling much better. Went to bed at 9 pm last night and slept all night. Didn't get up once! Yay. I feel like I can at least focus today. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Kathee, thank you for the info. Yes, I am seeing an endocrinologist but he doesn't seem to know a whole lot about Hashimoto's Disease. His former partner does but he is a jerk and I really feel like he is a pervert too. I know that sounds wierd, but what endocrinologist makes you strip down for a thyroid exam???!! Anyway, I will check out that site and start reading. I hope you stay getting better!!

Mary Beth,
I am so sorry your having thyroid issues. I am new to the forum. But, old to thyroid problems. I do understand your plight. Have they sent you to an endocrinologist or is GP trying to handle it. You may already be familiar with Mary J. Shomom's web site about.comThyroridDisease. She has a lot of useful information. Sometimes to much and you have to weed through it.

I a had a total thyroidectomy 2 1/2 years ago. We are still trying to get things adjusted. My GP finally gave up and sent me to an Endo. Doc. it has been a huge improvement. My hair is better! whohoo!!! Heart racing has pretty much stopped, and the fatigue is greatly improved. We are currently doing my synthroid 175 mcg. 5 days a week. For me it is working better than a lower dose daily. Go figure. It is something to do with how we metabolize the dosage.
I say this to let you know it does get better. Even if it doesn't seem like it right now. Will be praying for you.
Lots of hugs.

Kathee

Oh MaryBeth, I am so sorry to hear that you are having a "down" day. I have no "Experience" with thyroid issues so I cant help you there, but I am sending a great big HUG and a prayer that you can sleep well tonight and wake tomorrow morning to a beautiful sunrise, and a brighter happier day.
Hugs,

Thanks Susan. I don't know how it could be the meds because I have only been taking half a pill instead of the two that they started me out on a year ago. I felt pretty good on those two pills and then they decided it was too much and took me down without blood tests. I've been on the half pill ever since. And now I'm worse. Go figure. I hope you are doing well with yours!!

Mary Beth - I am so sorry this is happening to you. I'm hypo-thyroid and can certainly identify. My heart races wildly if I take too much of my medicine. Could this be what's happening to you? Take are of yourself and let us know how you're doing.

Thanks Annika and sorry you are having a bad day too - I've gone the opposite way and according to this genius who is supposed to be a specialist, that isn't supposed to happen. Well it did!!!

Tea and a scone is a good idea. Decaffeinated of course. However, if I could focus on something, that would be good too - as it is, I look at something, think, "I need to deal with that" and then "Oh wait! I need to do this." "No wait! I need to do that." I'm all over the place. But I did take time to sit down and listen to Jonathan Bernis who informed that God does not put us in these situations, but rather gives us the strength to make it through them. That was good to be reminded of!! We are WOMAN hear us roar!! :-)

*BIG HUGS*

I am having a rotten day too! We are farmgirls and made of sterner stuff than most mere mortals Get a good cup of tea and pray or meditate or just think of 10 things that make you happy along with visualizing the actual thing! It kept me from punching an egotistical doctor in the nose today

First I was hyper-thyroidal and then suddenly switched gears and went hypo-thyroidal! That was a couple of years back, but having your thyroid all out of wack can leave you a mess!

Hugs
