We definitely have cold winds in the winter! Most days the wind speed is in the 15-35 mph range it seems but when fronts are moving through it's common to have 60 mph gusts. The upside is the snow very rarely has a chance to pile up, the down side is you can have some pretty impressive snow drifts! This will be our first full winter here and we are wondering how many times we will be snowed in. Lovely!

thanks for the reply girls. i saw on line it very expensive around there. it appears if you want 20 acres of land it is hard to find. the land is huge pieces or small like 3 acres in a community. i dont do well with cold wind. so i may just stay right here.. LOL happy days sherrye

We are in southern Wyo, Cheyenne (the state capital). Been to Sheridan many times and it's lovely up there but more pricey than other areas (people with money always like the pretty areas). Gillette (to the east of Sheridan has many energy jobs but there's so many workers that there is a shortage of housing. Wyoming is supposed to be one of the few states that are luring new business in and therefore more jobs are being created. The one bad thing about the state is it tends to be VERY windy in the winter. The people are great though, tend to let people be people and don't get riled up over little things. Very conservative and friendly. We moved up from Colorado a couple of years ago and I love the laid back lifestyle and fewer people.

Hi Sherry! I grew up in Wyoming and live just north of the border now. Wyoming can have it's highs and lows- but over all there is work to be had if you are willing to do it. The state is in good shape with no debt and money in the bank for education and road projects. Montana is the same way- no debt and a surplus in the budget. I work in Billings and live in an out lying town. The population density is low and land can be cheap- but that also means business opportunities can be fewer and further between. If you move out here, we HAVE to get together sometime!!
