Had a dream, that you knew down deep that you would never reach, but it lives in you all the time??? For as long as I can remember I always wanted a small Christian gift and book store with a little tea room. Maybe a little place for the children to read and play with quiet toys while mommy is browsing. I've drawn it all out and can just picture how I'd want it layed out and decorated in Victorian style. I know this will live in me forever, but just wanted to share with you. What are some of your dreams that you still carry with you??? Would love to hear them. And picture all the dreams coming true!

Thanks Brenda :) I visited the citydata forums a while ago to ask questions about the Ozarks and other parts of MO. At first the residents were standoffish towards me, they've had enough califoreigners and city people coming there and trying to take the country out of country living, but I presented my "farmgirl" credentials, and they changed their tune.
My hubby is finishing a paramedic degree alongside his full time job, and we're planning on taking off when he finishes. Missouri offers the most "farm" for our money with a climate that's much more to our liking. Wherever he gets a decent job offer, we'll go. The more rural, the better.

Jen I love your dream. Would love to have you in MO. I think I'm one of those who puts her dreams in the box. I guess I've had too many $$$$ problems throughout my life, that I fear taking a big chance. And yet I do believe that God gave me the gifts that could make this work. It would be so nice to see your dream come true, knowing that you are supporting yourself for alot of the neccessity's. Keep that dream and keep moving forward. Hugs,Brenda

These days, my dream is similar to Jennifer's.

I want to move to Missouri, buy a nice parcel of land, the "family farm house" of my dreams, plant an orchard, a garden, a pond, keep the ducks I have, get more, get my jersey cow, and spend my days growing up my kids, taking care of my animals, making cheese, butter, canning, gardening, and not kill myself cleaning obsessively. Just enough to hold it all together! It's a dream in view, and God willing, it will all come together in a couple years.

"There are people who put their dreams in a little box and say, 'Yes, I've got dreams, of course I've got dreams.' Then they put the box away and bring it out once in awhile to look in it, and yep, they're still there. These are great dreams, but they never even get out of the box. It takes an uncommon amount of guts to put your dreams on the line, to hold them up and say, 'How good or how bad am I?' That's where courage comes in."

Linda you never know, you may head back to Calif. someday and with you grand-daughter interested in horse's you may still have that dream. And yes you can live your dream out where ever you are. We can still be farmgirls no matter what. But I must say, if you head to Calie, I may have to follow!!!! haha Kimberly you are so correct about Gods plans being the best. Can't you just see him smiling down on us and letting us dream our little hearts out. I do think he puts some of these dreams in our heart and mind, to prepare us for where he is taking us. It's nice to hear you are living a simplier life and enjoying the family you was given.

Brenda, I love the sound of your bookstore. I'd shop there for sure.

My dream has always been to live in the middle of nowhere in or near the mountains, raise horses and have a big family living a simple old fashioned lifestyle. I started on my dream of raising horses but had to give it up after the drunkdriver hit me. I'm not in the mountains but I am in the middle of nowhere and although my family isn't large (2 children rather than the 6 I dreamed of) I am living a somewhat simple lifestyle. God is good. He knows the desires of our hearts and even if we don't reach what we had planned, His plans are better. :)

Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories

What a fun thread, Brenda!!
I also have a few. I always thought that a small, sewing and fabric shop, with an apt above it would be fun. In a rural community. The place upstairs would have a nice deck to grow some herbs and veggies!

At the same time, would love a horse rescue ranch!!

Ultimate one day dream? To ride a horse along the beach at sunset or sunrise!!

Fun to think about the dreams that I had when younger, healthier?

For today, I am becoming content and at peace with where God has me now. It has been a LONG time coming to this content, I assure you!!
I left a rural house to move to a city apt. Was a big adjustment. It is what is best and easier to manage with age and life issues. But what an adjustment!!
But lately, it is becoming a home of contentment and, yes, joy!
My daughter and I are going to make some homemade jam soon, checking out the farmers mkt. this weekend for cherries.
I am back, little bits at a time to crafting, sewing, knitting, and making things from scratch, some things better than others, lol!

But, learning that my always farmgirl style dreams can come true no matter where or how I live!!

Blessings, Linda

Michele if we really looked deeply we would find that we have fullfill many of our dreams, as you pointed out. And do hope that someone you will get to Egypt, but with all the research you've done, in your heart you probably feel like you've already been there. Hang on to all the knowledge you have taken in, and it will live within you forever. Hugs,Brenda

My dreams are just a bit different...I have always wanted to go to Egypt, even as a child I read & looked at all the books I could about the egyptian history. I would love to go on a dig & just be part of that environment for a while....To be able to walk thur a tomb or around a pyramid would just feel me with great joy.
Many of my dreams I have been able to do....I joined the Peace Corps, was a art teacher, learned & made lye soap the old way, went to college at age 25 & graduated.
My only other dream now is to get back home before I am too old to walk so that I can my little bit of land so that I can get the 2 pigmy goats I have wanted for over 13 yrs now....simply dream but with the chickens I now have thats all I want...Oh & no neighborhood barking dogs.......Michele'

I love hearing about everyones dreams. I've always wanted to live in an old farm house with a wrap around porch, hike the northern Nevada portion of the Immigrant Trail the Donner Party took in period clothes and open a bed and breakfast.

What would life be without them? What would life be if we had nothing to strive for?
BORING lol

Farm dreamer maybe you can someday take classes again. I know alot of the moms here take classes with their teenagers. It would be fun for you. Keep working at paying the bills off, someday you'll be posting from the mountain tops. LOL Merry I'm not sure where St. Charles is from Pleasant Hill, but I'm going to check it out. Would love to see that. Enjoy the cooler weather everyone. Hugs,Brenda

I have so many dreams of such diverse natures I would need several lifetimes to achieve them!
I want to hike the Appalachian Trail end to end. (Thru hike)
I want to do a stint in the peace corps. Preferably on the continent of Africa. Perhaps East or North Africa.
I want to be a women's outdoor skills teacher and be certified as a wilderness first responder.
I want to have a community resource building on my land that includes a certified commercial kitchen, a conference room complete with media setup, a retail area that sells local handmade items and produce, and a rug hooking studio for me with the comfy area you all have talked about to teach in and visit with friends. I want there to be a honey house that can be rented too. I want an orchard and blueberries and strawberries and goats for milk and chickens and a well for irrigation and more land!
I want 9 lives lived to the fullest!

that would be such a great place in a city like St. Charles, MO. Starting after Thanksgiving, they turn old St. Charles into a victorian christmas dream! Dicken's characters, carolers, roasted chestnuts...your dream shop and tearoom would be a perfect fit :) I do hope that someday your dream comes true!

When I was younger I dreamed of becoming a professional ballerina. I quit ballet classes when my mother got cancer and we needed the money for her care. Now I dream about having all the bills paid off so I can travel and go hiking in the mountains for as long as I want, not just a one week vacation.

Brenda, I have always wanted a cute little bookstore with a cat in the window and nice comfy chairs and couches and tea and coffee and muffins. And with a crackling fireplace with a big ole hound dog laying in front of it. And now I have added nice yarn and cozy knitting corners.

CJ I'd love to have you come to Missouri and have tea and do some shopping, and I'm sure we'd have great conversations and lots of laughter. Jennifer what would we do without our dreams. Maybe someone will someday see my plans drawn out and it will become a reality. I think alot of my dreams come out in my craft work. I love your signature line, it would make a beautiful card. Have a good day, girls. Hugs,Brenda

Oh, I love dreaming! My dream is to move back to the northwest, have a small homestead, grow almost everything that we eat, have a small booth at a real farmer's market (not a market that is full of "useless stuff" and fast food booths)and to learn to open up, love more and live bigger.
P.S. I love your signature line - I just finished reading the Law of Attraction.

I love that dream, Brenda! Maybe you'll reach out, you never know.
I probably had dreams that were simliar in nature, but for the the life of me I cannot recall them.
My dream is to be able to not have icky jobs! Seems like the ones I've had over the past 20 years or so are just plain icky . . . for a variety of reasons.
You go girl! Perhaps I can some shop and have tea!
