Took a quick snap this morning... hope you can see in the photo whose been "nipping" my sunflower seeds for the past couple of days! When I magnify the shot he is seen with a very fat sunflower seed grasped in his little beak--What a scamp!

He must have told his buddies because we are seeing up to 6 at a time now morning noon and early evening-

Aren't finches beautiful?

Look very closely to see his black striped wings...

Goldfinches sometimes don't have a clutch till august or September, that's when the seeds they like (especially the coneflower) are most available. They are pretty birds.

I was just watching them eat the seeds from my spent cone flowers today! They are beautiful and look much nicer against the backdrop of your pretty sunflowers! Glad you posted it!

I love sunflowers and also goldfinches. It took me a few seconds to spot the goldfinch -- GREAT camouflage!!! Great picture, too!!!

Thanks for sharing!

I love that sight! I miss it because the rabbits eat my sunflowers, so I've given up growing them at home, now only at the community garden. The goldfinches love the black eyed susans and coneflower I have, so I still have visitors, but not on the beautiful giant sunflowers!
