Posted - Aug 20 2011 : 07:54:28 AM I am from Oregon. My husband is from Washington, but really only cares about boat launches. I have only been to Ocean Shores, and it was sort of too busy with the vehicles on the beach. I am looking for places that are beautiful, accessible for children and maybe dogs. I really like the idea of swimming in the sound, rather than the open ocean. I have a trailer to camp, but like day trips too.

Posted - Aug 22 2011 : 6:51:38 PM Tracy, that sounds like just what Trish was looking for......as kids we always went to the ocean, mom and dad loved it, obviously my brother still does, as do I......we never ventured to the nearby lakes, or the sound!!

Posted - Aug 22 2011 : 11:56:06 AM Deception Pass, Whidbey Island and the San Juan's are my personal favorites. Going to be spending a week or so in Deception Pass next month! The DP area has a fresh water lake perfect for swimming and canoeing only feet away from the ocean beach perfect for beach combing, fishing, wading, and enjoying amazing sunsets. |

Posted - Aug 22 2011 : 07:56:48 AM We ran into the Westport Arts Festival on accident. It was fun. I always forget how cold the water is! When I figure out where to buy a Discover Pass, I am going to try a place on the peninsula called Twanoh. It has the warmest saltwater in the sound.

Posted - Aug 21 2011 : 9:00:44 PM Trish, if you are at the ocean when it's not crazy, it's beautiful. My brother and his wife live at Ocean Shores, I was there the week of the 4th. of July, and we were at the beach at least twice each day....it was wonderful, dogs are allowed, and of course, kids too. But, come the 3rd. and 4th. of July, it was absolutely crazy!! Maybe try the beaches down toward Moclips, Copalis, or Grayland......
