I am so angry. My daughter was to fly out at 5 am the morning on the first of three legs from North Carolina to Nevada. She was to be here at 11:00 am Nevada time. She called this morning to say that the TSA screeners didn't get to work on time to check people in so she (her son and service dog) missesd their flight, along with 10 other passengers.

These are the people who are supposed to protect us from terrorists. They care so much they can't even show up to work on time. So then it makes me wonder just how wewll did they check people.

The airline well aware of the problem took the stand that they had a schedule to keep and couldn't hold the flight. I don't know about you, but I don't think I've ever been on a flight that was actually on time!

Would't be so bad but I live about 1 1/2 hours from the airport.

Thanks for listening. I just had to vent.

My blood pressure is going up!!!! I remember when I was searched on my last flight out of New Orleans. OMG!
Tina, I 100% agree "I think more and more people will give up flying if possible". I know many who have already done just that. And- A.J. your statement about: "These are the people who are supposed to protect us from terrorists." I always feel the reverse when I fly. I feel as if these people are protecting the terrorist from me/us. LOL. True.

Our family gave up flying due to this. It meant we had to drive half way across the country for vacation. It would have been great to let DD have her first airplane ride, but at the risk of her/us having possible psychological problems from their search techniques, we decided to skip it. I hate the loss of freedom especially when it seems to show it doesn't really keep us safer.

It's exhausting groping people intimately day in, day out, apparently. I have next to zero respect for TSA's claim that they "keep us safe." DH and I decided we're not going anywhere we can't drive until thos blows over and you can take a plane without wanting to roofie yourself.

so sorry Anne, I can not believe that any airport , no matter how small would allow these type of incidents to continue to happen , regarding TSA employees. I think more and more people will give up flying if possible...

She's on her way. It's a small airport that just has puddle jumpers. It's not open 24 hours a day. Turns out she won't be in until 10:00 tonight. Long day for her with a 4 year old and her service dog. Also all the luggage.

She had to kill 8 hours before they could get her on another flight. It just drives me crazy when people screw around with other peoples lives because they are irresponsible. I only hope they haven't overbooked her final leg!

Thanks for listening.

I used to live somewhere that had a very small airport (in NC coincidently, maybe same area!) and like you said Anne, there was not always a TSA worker there. And at that point there was only ever one or two. It was always really funny because the same person who checked you in was usually the same people who were out getting the plane off the ground too...lol. Sorry, not to make light of the situation. I understand how frsutrating it is, especially when dealing with small airports. I am glad I don't have to fly anymore, it was getting to be such a headache with lost luggage, delayed flights, long check-in times...etc.

Hope your daughter made it in ok now!

I'm sorry, but I am confused...TSA employees are on the job in shifts that ensure there is someone on the job 24/7, and even if 1 or maybe 2 were late to work, for whatever reason, there still would be the previous shift working till their replacements showed up, plus the currant shift , short of who ever was late...and YES, the airline must stay on schedual, as much as possible, to make sure that the entire airport and all incoming/outgoing do not end up stacked up on the tarmac, or circling in the air, if I was your daughter, I would be making a huge stink out of this, along with the 10 other passengers...
