Hope y'all do not mind seeing a picture of my hubby flying in SLC Utah. He usually fights wild land fires in the summer but this year his company got the contract for a Pipeline they are putting down in SLC.
This was taken Aug. 15 2011 as he was taking off from the Pipeline at sunset. It was taken by his Director of Operations, I think he took one of the best photos of my hubby flying.
He has been gone almost 5 months and we have seen each other may 7 days out of that time. I miss him so much so this wonderful photo was a nice surprise for me.

A beautiful picture. <Hugs> I know what it feels like to be alone like that. Dh was in the military (when we lived in Utah actually!) and I have never been so lonely in my life.

Oh you are so right Karin. I like my alone time let me tell you but sometimes you just get darn lonely. Our son is 35 and lives about 2 hours from us and comes home when he can, but I do not think it is enough:-) Thank goodness for friends and Mary Janes Farmgirl.
We all do what we can to survive and sometimes that means making sacrifices, like you I hope one day my hubby will be able to retire full time and enjoy the golden years.

Nice picture, Debbie. My husband has worked for a helicopter company in the Gulf for 38 years, seven days on/seven days off. Seemed like I was mom and dad a lot of the time while our kids were growing up. You get used to it, but it's hard for the guys to miss so much. He will be retiring next summer and I'll have to get used to having him home every day =). My son asked if we thought we'd be able to handle that much togetherness, lol.

Laurie, being an Army Wife I am use to it, my hubby retired from the military in 1996 after 23 years. He spent a year in Desert Storm, so I tell myself everyday that he is gone it could be worse, he could be over Afghanistan like so many of our wonderful men and women fighting for us, so I am Blessed he is just in SLC. He works all summer long so we can save the money to live through the winter and he does not have to go anywhere.
A.J, yes the contract he is doing this year is safer but still has it dangers believe it or not. He prefers to fight Wild fires as he feels it is helping and giving back. So, I see him going back next year not to this contract but fighting the Wild Fires where ever he is needed across the United States. I believe he deserves to do what his heart tells him too as at 56 years old he may not have many years of flying left, and he needs that excitement.

What a beautiful picture Debbie! Cant imagine hubby being away for that long (or anytime at all really!). Makes me step back and appreciate the fact that fortunately we dont have to be seperated for work etc. I hope you get to see him "in person" soon.

Hi Denise, let me see if I get this right, the Pipeline Base is off of Hwy 89 up behind a subdivision call Eagleridge I believe. Then the fly up into the foot hills and the canyons.
