Posted - Aug 12 2011 : 9:30:48 PM The drought is broken!!!!! I want to do a jig! :-) We've had rain three times this week and today, we got a doozy. I am afraid that it brought some unexpected and unappreciated hail - big hail - and it looks like our nearly new roof from a past hail storm is going to have to be replaced. One car looks like a ballpeen hammer had a party. Bleh. But we sure got lots of rain and that is awesome because we were getting to the point where we were worried our well was going dry.
I posted a video at the blog of the hailstorm which was a new one for me. I had not seen hail this bad before. I'm kinda whiny in the video when I realize that the roof is getting creamed. And THEN the 70 mph wind started pelting me with the big hail UNDER the porch!! And THAT was not fun. Nearly dropped the camera trying to get in the door. I think I sound like a kid getting spanked!!! Anyway, just ignore me and check out the video. You can feel sorry for the cars that didn't get put up in time.

Posted - Aug 13 2011 : 05:55:03 AM Thanks ladies!! We have surveyed the damage and have lost a tree to the straightline winds. Pulled it right out of the ground. And the big trash can blew over so that the country dogs had a hey day. What a mess! :-) I'm heading out to pick up the scraps of my life strewn all down the road. Oh my. I'm waxing poetic!

Posted - Aug 12 2011 : 9:46:44 PM Wow, Mary Beth! That was QUITE a hail storm! I bet those chunks of hail really stung! Ouch!!! We had one earlier this summer, too - what a thing!!! Almost all of our neighbors have had to have work done on their homes due to the hail damage. Thankfully, we only suffered some damage to the garden. My husband had just replaced the roof last year, so we were really lucky!
I'm so SO glad for you all that you've had some drought relief! That's wonderful news!!!
Hugs -
