While eating breakfast this morning, I looked out the big picture window. I noticed several hummingbirds swooping around the feeder under the maple tree in the middle of the yard. There is also a little flower garden with a bird bath in the middle. There were several birds flittering around there. I always wondered how the hummingbirds drain that little feeder so fast when they are so selfish and swoop down on another birds when they are at it. But they do and I have to refill it about every 4 days now.

I also have the prettiest flower box in the window full of red petunias and ivy that the hummingbirds love too. They come to it during the day alot. I try to keep red flowers for them.

Beyond that is the front pasture where the chickens and turkeys live. I can see my pretty orange Buff hens out there scratching around looking for goodies. I see the turkeys out in the field looking too. The 4 goats are up there right now too. They lay under the shade trees when it's real hot but are mostly out in the field. I had it bush hogged yesterday and it looks so nice and neat right now. Before it looked like a jungle and I couldn't see any one out there in it.

If I look over to the right I can see Mazie and Chuck in their nicely mown pasture too. And the chickens like to go out there and scratch around the cow patties. And they like the apples that fall from the trees too.

And the garden is out there in the middle of these 2 pastures. All kinds of activity out there now since I let the chickens back out. I found a nest of eggs in one of the raised beds the other day. I left one and of course they did not like that and have gone somewhere else.

The sheep are out back in the pasture. I will move them up front soon. I am still getting to know the 3 ewes. I am able to touch their noses now! Earl the ram lamb will always be friendly. Til he figures out he's supposed to hurt me. Then I might have to do something with him.

Like Amy, I get emotional when I see all this. I'm so thankful that it's all ours to enjoy. I love sitting at our dining room table that we made ourselves and seeing all this that is ours. It brings such joy to my heart. And I give God all the glory too. If not for Him, we would have none of this.

Kristen,
I am moving to a new home and don't have a very nice view out my dining room windows. Your post has inspired me to put hummingbird feeders there so the view will now be beautifully inspiring
Thanks,
Michele

Kris- what a wonderful post....I can just picture it all now- and it looks heavenly! Isnt it just the best to be so content with what you have and not worry about what you DONT have? As its been said on this site a hundred times before- its the little things in life that make it all worthwhile. Thanks for sharing and for the relaxing moment gazing out the window!

Kris, I know what you mean. Sometimes I just feel so happy, like I'm singing, when I look at my yard, or when I'm hiking in the woods, or out in farm country, or even at the lake. It's all so beautiful and I feel so blessed to be where I am. We should post photos of looking out our dining room windows - I'm going to take a picture tonight and try to figure out how to post it. (It will be from my patio because you can't see a whole lot out of my dining room since we added a roof over part of our patio.)

Beautiful post, Kris. You described everything so well, I feel like I am there with you. I'm just thankful that we understand the peace that this all brings, and I'm thankful to have found this forum as a place to share that with other people who "get it". So many people in my family don't, and that can be so frustrating sometimes! Thanks for letting us have a peek into what's outside your window. :)
