A woman is trying to change our towns laws in regards to keeping chickens. http://www.rblandmark.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=7777 Would be great if this happens! More & more communities in our area are becoming 'chicken friendly'.

I received an email Monday that her meeting with the village board was cancelled due to this:

http://www.rblandmark.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=7800&TM=45920.5 I'm sickened that someone would do something like that.

Her blog if anyone wants to sign the petition or just offer encouragement.

That is ridiculous, cruel, and scary. Knowing that the people who killed her animals could live in her neighborhood, have access to her backyard, and are brave enough to do this is terrifying. I hope they find the people that did this and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. Not to mention force them to move to a new neighborhood and enroll in an animal abuse rehab course (Mandated for animal abusers sometimes).

I hope she keeps up the fight. If someone killed them, there's no excuse...

Be the change...

Go to www.madcitychickens.com They have lots of information and come to communities and play their documentary film about the ordinance in Madison, WI being changed to allow chickens. They help out with problems like this woman and community are facing. I am still working on the city council in my town to change the ordinance. Also have you ever heard of the chicken whisperer? He has a daily radio broadcast and a web site. http://www.chickenwhisperer.net/ Lots of advice and knowledge.

I ask not for a larger garden, but for finer seeds.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

That is so sad! I hope she gets some wonderful hens to replace the ones that were killed.

maybe you should tell them that "Beverly Hills" California allows hens at the homes there...

Deb~ I read both links. How cold someone be so cruel? I am also sickened by that person's actions. The police should find this person and arrest the. If they are comfortable anough to kill chickens so easily what will be next? Please keep us posted on this isssue. It will be interesting to see what happens.
