Some days are real jackpots at the thrift store. I came across this kitchen cart. It looks rather forlorn and in need of some cleaning. I love it because it's all wood and it fits right under my kitchen table/counter. The top is a removable tray so I could use it for tea. Right now it's taking care of some canning jars. I noticed on the bottom a tag and a sticker. I tried googling it but have come up with nothing. I figure the company may be out of business. I'm wondering if any of you might be able to turn up any more information.

I'm from Northampton England and Abington St is the main shopping street. This tag looks like the name of the furniture store it came from. Boy, this bought back memories. It's most likely a tea cart as opposed to a kitchen cart since i don't beleive there is/was anything called a kitchen cart. You would load this up in the kitchen with things for afternoon tea, tea pot, cups, saucers, little cakes, and sandwiches etc, and then take it into the lounge of your home or parlor where you would serve your family or guests. All my family had them.

I think that it would be beautiful refinished. Be sure to carefully remove the tags so that you can put them back on!! :-)

 Thanks Mary Beth. Would you believe I only paid a few dollars for it? I wanted to know more about it because I wasn't sure if I should refinish it or what?

Well, I've been sleuthing and from what I can find, your lovely tea cart is a real collectable and seems to be of the Maidsaver line of kitchen furniture made by W. Lusty and Sons in England. Maybe 1940's or 50's? The Lusty company purchased an American's unique type of weaving wicker furniture from paper called Lloyd's Loom and it appears that this furniture is still being produced in England. It is just a neat cart and you should be tickled pink. :-)
