With the problems of the world, and everything else going on, I had to bother anyone with this, but thought maybe some of you gals could give me some suggestions!! I purchased a Tempur Pedic foam memory bed just about one year ago, of course w/a 90 day warranty, my old bed was SO old, anything felt good. I haven't been thrilled with this thing, and after visiting my brother and sil and sleeping in a pillow top bed for 5 nights I just have to do something with this foam memory....I did speak with a salesman where I purchased it, he said all they could do was give me a good discount on something else. Would someone actually buy a box sprg. and mattress off craigslist? Any suggestions would certainly help!!

How about a featherbed to put on top of your mattress? We use to have one and it was so cozy! They come in all sizes and prices and at www.jcpenney.com they are on sale right now. I'm sure you could find them other places also.

Thanks Tanya......I think I will look into a pillow top cover, that's got to make some difference!! I could kick myself all the way to the moon and back for thinking that bed would "get more comfy", as I could have returned it within 90 days. Lesson well learned!!

If the price is right and the seller listed that the bed just wasn't the right firmness for them... yes, they would happily purchase off craigslist. My daughters dorm beds were horrible! We picked up a really nice thick mattress cover for her at Kohls and she said it made the world of difference. There are also pillow top covers for the mattress that could work and be more economical for you vs selling and starting from scratch. (a friend of mine had purchased the bed you did and returned it in less than a month)

We have a Sleep Number bed and it's the best thing we ever did. 11 years with it now and no problems just good sleeping.

I wouldn't buy a mattress of craigslist or used, but some people don't mind it or plan on bug bombing them. I would give it a shot as well. You never know!!

Since it's free to put up a craig's list add it's worth a shot. I know I wouldn't either! lol haha But, some people probably will.

No worries Lisa, I just wasn't sure if people would buy a mattress on craigslist, or not....I know I wouldn't!! I spent so much money on this thing I'd like to recoup some of it, but if I have to put up with it, that's what I'll do!!

Hey Suzie!!
I was just looking over this post & I think I misread; I thought you were looking for a mattress on craigslist, not trying to sell yours. I did not mean to imply that you had bedbugs!! Sorry!!
I guess I was a little paranoild because hubs & I went to Manhatten for vacation at the height of the bedbug thing last year, & it kind of stuck with me. I was turning the mattresses, taking pictures off of the walls, & even took the headboards off. Overkill I guess, but I know someone that had theseonce at an apt & it was devastating.
Good luck finding your perfect mattress!!

I have heard the same thing about TP's and the foam just not holding up. I have a friend who said she was talked into them twice and both times they were big disappointments to her.

I also LOVE the pillow tops. I have a sealy it's ok, but not exactly what I wanted, but for sure better then most out there. I want a beauty rest next time. That's what I had before and that's what I thought I had, and I was stupid and believed the sales woman that I couldn't have a beauty rest cause brs didn't come with the features I thought it did. When I got home sure enough mine WAS a beauty rest...any way we've had this sealy now for 10 years and it's good but I liked my beauty rest better. So I will go back to it.

One thing I do suggest with the pillow tops though is make sure both sides are pillowed so you can turn the mattress over! Mine is and I've been happy that it is.

Connie, how thick is your mattress cover? The one I put on is maybe only an inch or so, not a pillow top, just an extra that I had, think this may be worth looking in to. I paid gobs of money for this set and hate to try and sell it as I know I won't get my money out of it, and then to have to invest in another bed.....!!

I was to hot too but the pillow top mattress cover helped with that too.

Thanks gals....yes, I was told when I purchased it there would be no problems w/bedbugs, mites, etc. also that it would be warmer in the winter, well......the other night I woke up almost stuck to the darned thing I was so warm!! I also have a hard time turning over on it, and when I crawl in, it's like laying on a piece of plywood.....probably the worst decision I've ever made. Might just try to find a "pillowy" top cover for it, do have one on now, but it's not too thick......I sure appreciate all the input!!

I think you could sell it. I might try the mattress cover Connie suggested first. I had one of those beds and had to get rid of it. It was too hot! We have a Sleep Number now.

The Tempurpedic ones will NOT have bedbugs. My best friend works at TP and she says that the TP Material is so thick bedbugs won't get in.

Someone would probably trip over their own feet to buy a mattress. I have sold mattresses before and folks come before the sale starts.

I was unhappy with mine too. I felt like it was sucking me down and I had trouble turning over. Someone told me to get a mattress cover that was thick quilted and see if that helped. It did! I'm really happy with it now. $20 something dollars at TJ Max vs cost of a new mattress it was worth a try. Something to try anyway.

I would check local thrift stores. Mattress stores get write-offs for donating and can report the loss on taxes.

Good luck
