I was in the grocery store the other day, and someone stole my big stack of reusable grocery bags right from my cart! I had fourteen or fifteen, collected from all over. Now I have two. Thank goodness I did not leave my purse in the cart, it was on my shoulder. But, really????

I had someone steal one of my "pink ribbon" reusable bags at a Wal-mart. I was not happy. We can't buy those anymore and I used them to celebrate my Mother's survival over breast cancer.

I would check back at the service desk in a day or so to see if anyone "Found" them and turned them in. The thief may have thought you had money in one of them for groceries and dumped them when they were empty. Or not. : ( Sorry that happened to you. It does feel awful.

People constantly confuse me!I am really puzzled by this one. Nicole were they fabric bags or the basic .99 ones that are sold everywhere? I would LOVE to send you a replacement or two!I know they won't be as special as the ones from Denmark but maybe one from a Farmgirl Sister would be fun?

I had the worst, most stressful Monday today...but when I got home there was a cute, wrapped package in the postbox! Farmgirl Joey in Florida mailed me some beautiful bags (one from Whole Foods designed by Cheryl Crow). The note inside was the sweetest! Reminding me again how very lucky to have my "farmgirls". Thank you again Joey! Hugs!

The idea of attaching your purse to the child seat straps may also have to apply to our bags. It's too bad we would have to go to all this trouble but if this type of people are around us I guess we will have to do what we can to keep our things. Most of my bags are not that great but if one of these bags was from Denmark I would say it is possible that it was special. Mine also seem to always have dog hair on them maybe not too appetizing to some people. Thank heaven we have some honest people out there.

I make shopping bags from feed sacks and as I was packing my groceries into them one day, someone attempted to take my bags. Seriously... did they think they were "free" bags?

Nicole, that is just awful! I just hope that the bag thief uses them.
I'm so sorry =(
I've had to work very hard for everything in my life, I have never wrapped my mind around stealing something that belongs to another. But stealing market bags??? That's just petty.

That just takes the cake-I'm sorry this happened to you!
Many years ago I was grocery shoppin-I was taking care of my mom at the time & it was the worst shape I'd ever been financially. Every penny counted. Anyway-I had a plain envelope loaded with coupons just for that trip. I was really happy I was going to get a big discount. Well-I wandered away from the cart to get something & when I came back the envelope was gone[i]I couldn't believe someone would steal......[i]coupons????

Laurie,
Yes, they stole them. They were in the cart with my purchases. I was looking at the meat and when I turned around my bags were gone - right out of the cart. What I didn't think of before is some of them are from Denmark and I would definitely recognize them if I saw them again! Anyway, it just seemed like a petty, silly thing to do. Oh well.

Nicole-
I am sorry to hear that you had that experience. The world is definately a crazy place these days! I know this sounds crazy, but are you sure they "stole" them? The reason I ask is I'm wondering if perhaps they took the wrong cart by mistake? Okay- so I'm grasping at straws here...lol. Wish we could just live in a world where people are just "Nice" and treat other people "Nice" for no reason- other than its the right thing to do!
Guess that is why I am so glad to have this forum...a large group of like-minded,sweet farmgal sisters, who you can count on and relate to. Ahhhhh.

Sorry about that...some people steal because of the "thrill" from what I hear. I just could never understand the whole concept behind stealing. What kind of person does that? The arrogance of it! Taking something that does not belong to you.

Last summer someone stole an old dry-sink I had next to my garden shed, but thoughtfully placed the terra cotta pots that were on it down on the ground almost gently-maybe they didn't want to be heard. I was really disappointed about that theft. I liked that old dry sink and the thing is it was very close to the house-we never heard a thing. Oh...and one afternoon in broad daylight an older man walked into our garage and took my husband bicycle! My DH can move pretty fast yelled at the guy grabbed our next door neighbor who also saw him take it.... hopped into the car and took out after the guy. He abandoned it after seeing two very large guys zipping down the street after him, but they never caught him. Broad day-light and just as easy as you please. SOME PEOPLE huh?

Wow, that takes the cake! Now imagine going to the grocery store in the future and passing someone in the aisles there who happens to have YOUR old shopping bags in their cart!! I'm sure you would recognize them. Wouldn't that be an odd feeling?

that is pretty sad! Of all things to steal, they must have felt they really needed those more than you. My girlfriend had her gardening tools stolen the other day from her shed, so she hit the market and loaded a cart with the basic tools she needed, turned to look at something and someone took her cart of purchases, too lazy to gather their own! Some people!

Yes, it really bothered me. If that person had said they wanted to go green but couldn't afford to invest in the bags,or just wasn't sure if they would use them or not, I would have split mine with them, right there, on the spot. It's not something irreplaceable, but I felt violated, none the less. It does amaze me the way people are today. Kristin, your idea of snapping your purse to the baby belt is great! Debbie, you are so sweet for offering to share your bags with me! Thank goodness for my farmgirls here!

Nicole~ People are crazy. Someone mentioned that they probably did it for the thrill of seeing if they could get away with it. That is probably the case. And there are many peple out there with a huge sense of entitlement. The thing that keeps me going with all the nuttiness out there is the thoughts of all the people who are kind and good and go the extra mile. It does shake you up though when faced with the other sort.

What do people think? People these days see something they want and they feel entitled to it. Some one where I work was trying to steal the battery out of the clock because they "needed it". They were not even sorry when they were caught. I am sorry that happened to you, Carol

I have no idea why someone would resort to stealing reusable bags! Maybe you had a hand in starting someone on the green road of doing away with plastic bags! It kind of shakes your trust in your fellow man, huh.

Nicole, I have been snapping my purse in the straps for babies. That way if someone were to try and take it they would have a hard time and probably knock the buggy over trying to get away. So maybe you should try that next time. I'm so sorry you had that happen. People are so crazy these days anymore. It's getting to where I don't trust anyone either.

Nicole I am so sorry to hear about this - I really do not understand folks. Maybe they thought your purse was in those bags. I hope you will find better bags for yourself and just know that someone who has to do that does not walk in truth, goodness and will receive exactly that which he give. Your a light and will get back an even great gift... Hugs and again I am so sorry.

You know Nicole if you are like me and they said they needed bags you would have shared them with them. Life is funny, bags are such a small thing why steal them they are everywhere I think it is just cause they were there and they wanted to see if they could get away with it.
I wonder why folks are the way they are sometimes I do not get it.
If you will email me your address Nicole I have many of them and I would love to share them with you.
Have a beautiful sun shiny day.
