This article and the craziness that has been going on in Montana this year reminds me of the Laura Ingalls Wilder book "The Long Winter".

All winter just as the norther lines of the track got cleared, a new huge snow storm would hit. Residents were isolated near the Canadian border for months a time behind 20-30 foot snow drifts. They were air lifting food to animals and elderly and doing their best to get around with snow machines. Now the spring storms have come can rail road tracks are washed out and the spring melt hasn't even begun yet! We even have an interstate that is flooded out not too far from Billings!
