I actually got one last week but needed to exchange it when I found out I had gotten one that was too small for me. (Website says it should stand between your tummy & chest in height) Plan on trying it out tomorrow.

Oh how fun to see this topic I had just got some for my daycare and the little kids spent hours with them yesterday and when my older kids got home they all had to take a turn at it too. I never was very good but now I may have to secretly try it again. I love the old "toys" we use to play with as kids!

I have a travel hoop. this one: http://www.hoopnotica.com/travel-hoops-a-kits.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_naru.tpl&product_id=53&category_id=10 That way I can take it apart and bring it camping with me.

I used to love hula hooping! Now I do it with the Wii, and let me just say I get quite the workout when I'm doing it!! I should go out and get a real one as well and give it a whirl again

I bought mine on Amazon.com Canyon Hoops also sells them online. I looked at several stores here first and couldn't find any hula hoops so I just ordered one.

This is such a fun topic! My kids found my hola hoop from color guard, and, well, I believe I buy about for a year now! Lol. Good thing they are cheap. I can still do four at once, waist, neck, and arms, but I haven't tried more in years. It is so fun to play with the kids. We laugh til our sides hurt, especially when my mama is up for a visit and tries. My DH gets into it too, but the hola hoop has nested him, as of yet.
Great to read this. I will now go get ours from the garage, and put them in the playroom, and after school, we will all probably be hooping into obnoxious laughter! Thanks!!

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

I got a hula hoop, too. My daughter had one of those small ones, but they're nearly impossible to use unless you're already good--or very very small! It's great exercise...30 seconds feels like ten minutes when your waist is out of shape.

When I was on drill team in junior high school we did a routine where we worked a big hoop around our waist and a smaller one around each wrist at the same time - for a total of 3 hoops at once. I haven't tried that recently, but I do have a portable weighted hoop that I love to spin for exercise and stress relief while I'm listening to my favorite music.

I love to hoop and it is a great form of exercise and way to relax. I do it while watching TV and reading. I just have a cheap one from WalMart but you can get the weighted hoops from Canyon Hoops, which add a little more of a workout.

Ladies back in 1959 I was 9 years old, and I won the Hula Hoop contest at the local shopping center. I was on the front page of the newspaper, I had the article until our house flooded in 1978. I won 1st place by doing 27 at one time. And yes at 60 yrs of age, I can still hula hoop but not more than 3! My twin grandaughters are so impressed--we have about 6 of them on the porch and my daughter and DIL and whoever else is here all get to doing it. It is still fun. Last weekend my MIL and all the family had a cook out on the porch and wow she even did the hula hoop, and she is 84 years old. Hope I am still hula hooping at that age. We videoed her, knowing we will watch that many times in the future and our youngest member of the family at 4 learned how to do it. I have several sizes, including a small one for the small ones. Great topic, thanks for the memories, but we still hula hoop out here on the farm. Farmgirl #946 Linda

I've had one for years . . . I think I got it at Walmart or K-mart. I use it too.
They were THE RAGE when I was in school . . . all the girls had one, took them to school with our names on them, stacked them in a corner until recess and then at recess had a hula-hooping good time!!
Those were the days!

My girlfriend made a hula hoop from well tubing. Works great for her. At the website yourhoop.com, they have great recommendations designed to help you figure out which of their products to order. You can use that info to make your own, or order a custom one from them. Pretty cool! It's great exercise.

To be honest I picked it up at Big Lots for $5.00 & it's a generic brand, but figured it would get me started. No excuses-I want a flat tummy again!

I've been thinking of getting one, did you get a special one of some kind? I have seen some weighted ones that are supposed to be pretty good.
