Posted - May 18 2011 : 05:57:33 AM I was a t the thrift a few days ago and found a Louisa May Alcott book, that I have never heard of. Also a few kitties to match one I had. I will probably be going back to the thrift today or tomorrow, have a few things in mind that I have been looking for. Everyday new stuff comes in so you never know what might be there.

Posted - May 19 2011 : 5:30:56 PM I went to find a dish draining rack (after being inspired by the MJF mag this month) and the thrift store had one for a whopping 99 cents! I also nabbed an iron/ironing board rack for 59 cents and the clerk gave me a free book...plus I get 20 percent off because I have my 'discount bag'. Woohoo for thrift stores!

Posted - May 18 2011 : 9:54:04 PM Nancy, which book by Louisa May Alcott did you find? She authored many, and I'm curious. Everyone knows of Little Women, which was turned into a great movie like Rosemary said.

Nancy, that book was made into a movie a few years ago, with Meredith Baxter and Tom Conti. |

Posted - May 18 2011 : 06:47:57 AM ive not heard of that book either-great find!
we went to my favorite thrift store yesterday-i bought a skirt for work and two books from the "crafts" section-not the books section-surprisingly they have and "antique books" area- but these were in the crafts area- one is a 16 page B&W Workbasket-printed in Dec 1947---sold for $1.50 a year!!!!! i bought it for 50 cents cuz i HAD to.... the other is copyright 1915...its a Royal Society Tatting and Crochet Lessons-price 10 cents ( i paid 50 cents) ...48 pages...wonderful instructions, pictures etc-all B & W...Royal Society was a "cordichet" crochet thread company i guess....so- they go on my shelf along with my button tin, The Apron Book and MJ's Stitching Room!
