Thought it might be nice to post a few pictures of her, that were released to celebrate her 40th bd :)
The official picture, made just yesterday

Posted - May 18 2011 : 10:33:42 PM Jackie, no she is NOT of Royal blood. But ofcourse they were not poor either. They met in Seville, and the rest is history as they say :) In fact her father was, what you might call, un unwanted person yikes! He was a member of the Argentinian government under Jorge Videla. They say he knew about what happened with people at that time, about people vanishing Ofcourse he was investigated and is still an unwanted person here. He also was not allowed to be here when his daughter married our Prince.

Here is a link with more info about that if y'all are interested.
Maxima is NOT looked upon for her father's sins PTL. She renounced them all, and also told the Dutch that she did not approve of them etc. etc. But now it is "hidden with love" as we call it here. Maxima IS loved very much so she is forgiven :)

Posted - May 18 2011 : 9:19:17 PM Ahhhh! I always wondered how the "Queen/hubby not king" thing worked. Thank you for explaining that. It is rather confusing. With Maxima being from Argentina, I'm now curious how they met....if she was of royal blood or not(like William and Kate).

Posted - May 17 2011 : 11:22:59 AM Karla, yes Juliana was indeed a lovely lady. Rather "down to earth" as well. Most of the time she really hated protocol. She was the one that abolished the walking backwards after meeting the Queen. THAT was the norm in the olden days, it was seen as impolite to walk away with your back to Royals, but Juliana was always afraid people would fall down :) So that is why she always told them to please NOT walk backwards.

Posted - May 17 2011 : 10:03:17 AM Cathy, at the moment we have a Queen, Queen Beatrix. She became Queen in 1980, following in her mother's footsteps. Queen Beatrix is the 4th Queen we've had in a row, starting with Queen Emma, then her only child became Queen Wilhelmina, her only child became Queen Juliana and her oldest daughter became Queen Beatrix. If she resigns we will have a King again since 1898!
The husband of a Queen will never be a King, because a King is higher in rang than a Queen...but because Beatrix only had sons......he will be King and his wife will be Queen :) Confusing I know lol
