Posted - May 02 2011 : 12:20:58 PM We all have seen the devestating pictures of the horrile damage the tornadoes did in the south last week, people left with nothing who wil struggle to rebuild for many years. I belong to another forum group called As a Mom who has been organizing a donation for the children. It is called Blankets, Books and Buddies to help return a small bit of normalcy and comfort to the children who have lost so much. I thought I would share it with my farmgirl sisters and let you know it is out there. They ask that you send gently used books, new blankets and stuffed animals. They can be sent to:
Christian Service Mission 3600 3rd AAve South Birmingham, AL 35222
Here is the web site of the church that is spearheading it:: http://www.churchofthehighlands.com/relief
Lets show the rest of the country what we farmgirls can do.
I also posted this on the stiching and crafting forum, hoping to get as many farmgirls attention as possible.
A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Posted - May 02 2011 : 1:35:10 PM Thank you so much for the link. I've been watching the news and seeing all the destruction and feeling helpless. Now I have something I can do!

Posted - May 02 2011 : 12:26:02 PM I've done something like this before for Project Night Night. I think it's a great idea. I've been kicking myself for sending a big bag of little baby girl's clothes to a friend's cousin just two days before the storm. She doesn't really need them, but those folks sure do!
Thanks for the addy. This is something I will happily do.
