Posted - Apr 22 2011 : 8:40:29 PM After last year, when everything went wrong (wrecked my car, hospitalized with pneumonia, hurt my knee and had to have surgery), I now have some GOOD news to report! I received a phone call from the lady handling my claim involving my knee, and the insurance is going to settle with me. (I hurt my knee at a friend's house and her home-owner's insurance has been paying the bills). I didn't ask for a settlement, but they offered it to me so I'll take it. I hope my friend's insurance rates don't go up because of it, but so far, she's said they haven't. I missed two months of work due to the injury. so this is a nice surprise. I talked to a financial advisor at work and he said he didn't think I'd have to pay taxes on it, but he wasn't sure. anyway, it'll help me out a lot financially. so that's a load of worry off my mind. They say things always happen in threes, so maybe there's more good news waiting for me! Cindy

Posted - Apr 23 2011 : 6:50:24 PM Cindy, So glad that a negative can now be viewed as a positive. I agree with what Bear5 said though, perhaps you should check with an attorney. I've never known an insurance company to just "cough up" money. Chances are that they are looking to settle this quickly and quietly and you may be entitled to much more for your pain and suffering that you had to go through.

Posted - Apr 23 2011 : 09:02:50 AM I do hope you have consulted with a lawyer regarding the settlement, cause believe me, if an insurance company wants to settle, and comes to you out of the blue, they know they would lose in court, and would have to pay you ALOT more...
