I love to watch things like this to see the dresses cause I like to sew and so I guess the "costumes" interest me the most....What about you??

I think the hats are funny, but I must admit- if I could socially get away with wearing something crazy once in my life- I totally would!

Well, Mary Beth, you weren't the only one rolling on the floor about the hats. Our local radio station was really whomping on them. LOL!!!!

I watched the entire thing on BBC America. There was a brief explanation of the trees in the Abby. They were Maple Trees and they signified....actually I forget what they signified.....but it was important to the couple. The trees will be planted on the grounds where they will take up residence.

I watched the wedding on youtube. Just gorgeous altho I didn't "get" the indoor trees. All I thought of was they were blocking someone's view!

Her dress was fabulous but I was expecting more bling. However, after thinking about it, her dress reflected herself just perfectly.

I think the monarchy got a real shot in the arm!

I loved watching the wedding, but I did get a "rolling on the floor laughing" fit at the hats in the audience. Oh my gosh. It was My Fair Lady and the Ascot Races all over again. The song kept wafting through my mind:
(sung with nose in the air and absolutely no facial expressions!)

"Every duke and earl and peer is here.
Everyone who should be here is here.
What a smashing, absolutely dashing spectacle -
the ascot opening day!...
Pulses - rushing.
Faces - flushing.
Heartbeats - speed up.
I have never been so keyed up."

There was one lady in the audience with a humongous black number that had the brim completely tilted to the side of her head so that she looked like she had a giant, black flying saucer attached to her face. The man behind her, straining to see through the monstrosity looked very English and appeared to be "not amused."

What was she thinking??

I know it doesn't take much to make me laugh. :-)

I watched all the wedding. I loved every minute of it. I love the Royals. My favorite reading is historical European novels and non-fiction. I watched Princess Di's wedding. I even stayed up most of the night and watched the live cornation of Queen Elizabeth. Yes, I am older than most of you.

Shall fold their tents like the Arabs and as silently steal away. Longfellow

Beverly I agree...just didn't want to say anything about the pointy bust part. Reminds me of my own mother's wedding dress. Absolutely hated that thing! Luckily it wasn't around when I got married. I made my own wedding dress. LOL!!!

I did like diana's wedding dress better. it was just more princess like to me. more fairytale looking... kates was pretty too but the bust parts seemed a bit pointy... hope that does not offend anyone but being a seamstress it just seemed that way to me....

Such a huge contrast to Charles' and Diana's wedding. Their wedding was rather cold and "rehearsed". Will's and Kate's was warm, romantic, pulled-together yet poised, .....everyone could see the true love in Will's eyes, it was hard for him to keep his composure! Ahhhhhhhh! What a refresher!

I was able to record all of it, and I also saw glimpses of her dress. She is such a pretty bride! I loved her dress, and I can't wait to watch the ceremony on DVR.

I thought it was beautiful. So nice to see the young Princes side by side. Their mom would be so proud.

I went and looked at pics and videos. They are such a relaxed elegant couple. Kate is stunning =) and I have always loved the Princes. I watched them grow up, go through the shenanigans of youth and turn into nice young men. William looks splendid in his Irish guard uniform =) I wish them many, many years of happiness and love together.

watched the en of the wedding and it's still on, I remember watching Princess Diana and being so enthralled with everything, the dress, the coaches and horsed, the abbey and palace, the same here, just beautiful and she looks so pretty and so relaxed and happy. I hope she fares better than Diana did

Winona, when Diana married Charles she had just turned 20. A virgin. Sheltered. Knew absolutely nothing of the world or the nastiness of the "Royals". Quite unlike Kate, who is now 29 and can definitely hold her own. She knows what she's getting into, but with William, they will break the mold. I'm actually giddy with excitement to see how the haughty aristocratic world is going to be turned upside down (crossing my fingers!!!!)

I watched Charles and Diana get married. I always thought she was a bit of a fluff, kind of air-headed. She just seemed to make so many bad choices and then would seem surprised that it did turn out bad.

I watched a special on Kate and William and she seems lik she sure has her head on right. Seems very sensible.

Anyway, I'd have loved to be there watching, I guess I'll settle for driving my truck...heh...

I will watch at least some of it. As several others have said, I too would like to see the gown.
I'd like to see the guests' couture as well. (I especially love to see big, beautiful hats worn well with an ensemble).

I always had a special fondness for Princess Diana. We share the same birth date (July 1) although I am two years older than her.
Also, I think she used her celebrity to do a lot of good.
I think her sons try to do the same.

As someone else mentioned--I am sure that Miss Middleton will be surprised at what she is getting into -- how could she not be -- but she has been with him for a long, long while. She seems mature. Unlike poor Diana...
Rightly or wrongly, I'm choosing to be optimistic for (will it be Princess?)Kate and about her ability to handle her new role.

Having said that--I snorted when I read Beverly's comments about something like "and we think WE have in-law problems." haw haw haw
Good one!

Ta Ta for now Dahlings,

I think I will be forced to watch more than I care to any way with all the coverage. That is unless the storms keep up and all we watch is weather coverage! Ha! The royal wedding may be a welcome break from weather alerts! I do want to see the dress. :) I despised Diana's dress. It did suit her though.
Wishing them the best and much happiness in spite of my disinterest in the event.
