Any of you girls using a hula hoop for excersise? There was a spot on the local news about how the Hula Hoop is once again all the rage & how good it is for you to use one. I never had one as a kid,but am tempted!

I loved to Hula Hoop, everyone should try it. I think I'm going to borrow one from my DGD and have some fun. Hugs,Brenda

I'm a hooper! I could never keep one up as a kid, but with the fitness hoops I can. I like a heavy hoop.

Great workout! I took a class where they incorporated hand weights while hooping. It took a lot of coordination!

Just practice and if I want to eat a piece of cake and not feel bad you have to do something to burn the calories.

Love to Hoop, I do it for exercise like it as much as walking. I read a couple of chapters from my book and watch TV while doing it great for toning the mid section, plus relaxing and soothing. I just have a cheap one from Walmart but you can buy weighted hoops from a web site called Canyon Hoops (www.canyonhoops.com.

I'm thinking of getting one-nothing like "playing" to get into shape-the beginning of my 2nd childhood? *laughs*

I used to be good with a hula hoop, as well as hopping on a pogo stick and walking on stilts. I could not, for the life of me, do a cartwheel however. I had never thought of using a hula hoop for exercise (a hula hoe yes...but a hula hoop??) but it does sound fun doesn't it?

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Sherrie, My daughter (46 yrs old) has an exercise hoola hoop and she uses it every night for about 20 minutes, usually while talking on the phone. She said it helps her tummy, and I can see the difference in her :). I can't keep one going for 2 minutes - LOL - she is Good! It is quite large and rather thick and has some type of something that 'hits" against you to help, maybe flatten the tummy???? I can ask where she got it if you'd like.
Hugs, Ruth

I loved to hula hoop and actually won a prize from our community center a VERY long time ago. Now my grand-daughter Hula Hoops and I can't get it to stay up no matter how I try. She laughs and me too, but it is so good for you fitness-wise, so I'll keep trying. Joey
