Posted - Mar 31 2011 : 4:18:02 PM Wow. You just never stop worrying about your kids even when they are grown. My son is down in Florida at the 'Sun N Fun Airshow', taking part in the trade show for his company. I got a text from him at noon to pray for them because a tornado was getting ready to hit their hangar and there was no place to go. He said the noise was awful and you could hear things hitting the hangar and then the center part of the roof started tearing away, sending rain pouring into the building. When it was all over, they made the national news, nobody was killed, 7 were injured and somewhere between 40 and 60 show planes were in piles of rubble. But he and his buds prayed and prayed, as did we and he's ok! He's ready to come home to Tornado Alley where we have 'fraidy holes' and big, big sirens!!

Posted - Mar 31 2011 : 7:32:36 PM Teresa, it is a little early, but here in Oklahoma, we think of tornado season as starting in March with late April and the month of May our most dangerous months. Since Florida is further south I would think this wouldn't be unusual. However, tornados flare up anytime the patterns are right and we've had them here in nearly every month, including many in December. Last May we had 25 horrible ones in one day and our area was devastated. I still find it hard to believe what happened on that day. Seems like eons ago.

Posted - Mar 31 2011 : 6:43:29 PM Wow! That picture says it all. Mary Beth, I am so glad to hear that your son and his friends were not hurt. I don't know much about tornadoes, we don't see too many up here... but isn't it a little early for tornadoes? I thought the season didn't start for another month. We are having some really crazy weather this year.

Posted - Mar 31 2011 : 4:30:03 PM Oh Mary Beth. I am so glad your son is OK. Imagine, going from Oklahoma to Florida to be in a tornado!?! My DH and I are learning to fly. Seeing those planes freaks me out! The little yellow one is still attached to it's tie down. I bet it just twirled like a button on a string when the tornado hit. Those poor plane owners. I'll send some prayers for the injured and for those that have damaged property. Wishing your son a speedy and safe return home. Connie
