I'm not this old...am I? :-) Yep. Exciting news. First grandchild and first great-grandchild on both sides. Gonna be a Thanksgiving baby.

I have to share how we were told. It is just so special. When my parents were expecting me way back when, they sent a note to my dad's sister and brother-in-law that was written as if the coming baby had written it. Pretty cute. Anyway, when I got married, my aunt gave me the note that she had been saving all those years and told me to keep it for when I would announce to my parents whenever we had our first child. When we found out we were expecting my daughter, I gave the note to my mom and dad and they knew immediately what was up. It was special. Well, unknown to me, my dad gave the note to my daughter a number of years ago when she was planning on marrying and so last night, my husband and I received the note. It was just too neat. I am going to frame the thing! :-)

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I realize, it's not like it's the first time anybody's ever been a grandmother, but this is the first grandchild and first great-grandchild on both my daughter's and her husband's sides! I think I need to learn to crochet. :-)

Congradulations! Grandparents are SO important. My mother always said "If I had known grandchildren were so much fun I would have had them FIRST." What joy you are in for.

Congratulations!!!!! There is nothing like grandchildren. When I was born my grandpa told my mother he knew why they were called GRAND children. He just passed away at 91 and I was still his favorite. :) I have 4 granddaughters and I under stand how he felt. Congratulations again, I will be praying for a safe delivery.
