Note when making rag rugs strips......get ready for lint.....it flies everywhere while ripping the strips. And I mean everywhere. But the finished product is worth it. Maybe you should rip your strips on the back porch....... :)

Hey Nancy-jo...
I too luv to crochet ragrugs...I have a stack of 7, all completed...haven't decided what to do with them, sell them, give as gifts or rip out my carpeting and toss the rugs all over the house!
I like having something to do when infront of the 'idiot box'....
Keep up the great work, we ragrug diva's need to stick together! lol!
To bad we live across the country from each other...or else we could be sitting on the porch crocheting rugs and haveing a great gab fest while doing so! hugz!
(p.s. i posted pics of my 2 latest ones)

There real is not much I can teach here. The thinner the strips the easier they are to crochet. I think mine are about an inch wide, but I was thinking even a bit thinner might be better. On the oval I increase on the ends. Then here and there as needed. If it starts to puff up I decrease, if it starts to roll I increase. When its done if it doesn't lay right I put it on the floor with a wet towel on and a sit something heavy on it.
See how willy nilly this is, which is why you may want to ask someone who really has a plan.

I am ready to put the tatting away now that I have some bunny edging done to put on my grand daughters dress---to much info--sorry!!! I need to do some!!!!

Great blog, Nancy.

Like Deborah, I tried making rag rugs once - they were very lumpy. Yours looked great. Any tricks of the trade would be appreciated.

I have a couple of books on making rag rugs. I tried one and it was hard to lay down flat. Not sure what I did wrong. But one of my dogs really loves it.
