Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 10:08:15 PM Patricia that is a classic "Nigerian" scam. I work for a bank and see this type of fraud all the time. Please don't give anyone any money unless they or a reputable rental agency personally shows you the property and presents you with a legal lease.

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 6:22:47 PM be careful Patricia, especially of anything that sounds too good. There are cheap rentals going on that the people don't even legal own or have the responsibility to rent. I always used an agency when I rented. that way I had a place to walk into and ask questions. Have you check with any realtors? Many handle rentals too.
Luck, Laurie

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 4:06:22 PM so among the phone numbers for places that are disconnected and the ones who don't return calls today I ran across what i am pretty sure is a scam, two different properties for rent who claim to be out of the country and want me to send them $350 for a deposit...sound fishy to me |

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 1:03:38 PM Patricia- I know how you feel! It is so hard finding a rental anywhere that allows pets. My husband and I are going to build some duplexes up here hopefully in the next two and a half years and my first rule is... PETS ALLOWED! :) It's so frustrating when you love your animals but they cost you an arm and a leg just to have a place to stay!

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 07:56:20 AM Hi Patricia, another good source for boxes is the vegetable department at the grocery store, they are good sturdy boxes especially for books and your heavier treasures.
I too have moved a lot with my husband in the military, finding just the right place can be a challenge but your home is out there waiting for you and you will find it. Good Luck and I will add you to my prayer list that you find a home soon.
Hugs, Debbie |

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 04:01:08 AM this is so frustrating ! cannot find a place I can afford that allows pets. their is such prejudice against pet owners , like we are all filthy house keepers. I don't know, maybe I am not destined to live in a house right now |

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 08:09:30 AM Best of luck, Patricia, sending you good thoughts for a good move. I work in a library and we break down our boxes and they get recycled every Friday but but if people come in asking for boxes in between they would be able to take them for free so check with your local library. The nice thing is that the boxes are not too big because books are heavy so they don't ship them in big boxes. Your local library is a good resource for so many things! ;-) Support your local library!

Posted - Feb 01 2011 : 04:57:29 AM Patricia,
Lots of moving in my past, too. Laurie has a great idea about boxes, also Home Depot sells them if you need some in very good condition for special items. Good luck. A fresh start is very exciting. Marianne |

Posted - Jan 30 2011 : 07:18:03 AM Good luck Patricia. Having moved way too many times in my life it can be an exhilarating and stressful time. When the time comes, hit up your local bookstores for boxes. They are about the same size and great for stacking.
My fingers are crossed for you.
Laurie
