Here it is. Hanging on the wall in Miss Wilma's shop. Anybody recognize what it is? It was quite the ice breaker, hanging there in her shop. :)

More great ideas, Gail! :) I may have to start collecting outhouse stuff...

Hi, Wilma!!! How's everything with you? We've been having a long, icky winter here. My dad had a stroke and is in a rehab facility now. He's doing much better in there. He'll be there about three weeks. Did you see the pics of my kitchen farmhouse cabinets I posted under 'A Farm of my Own'? Got then on my birthday last Tuesday! :)

Here's another idea. I also have framed pictures of outhouses (cut from a wallpaper border I have in my basement bathroom) hanging on the wall in the outhouse. Gives it a homey atmosphere. In my basement bathroom I have a framed poem about the 'House Out Back' and a collection of outhouses. I took pictures of our outhouse each season--summer,fall,winter and spring and have them in a long rectangle frame in the bathroom. Another conversation piece!!!

May our life be as beautiful as the flowers that we grow!

Great rules, Gail! Love them! Gonna print them off, buy a little frame in a thrift store, and hang them up in my own outhouse! Thanks! Also, gonna get myself a touch light. Good idea.

Hi Janice,
I just put my boots on and went out to the outhouse to read the rules. I didn't check it out before winter got here and the mice got into the toilet paper. We keep it in a plastic pitcher with a lid and someone forgot to put the lid back on. I'll have a little more cleaning to do in the spring than last year as the paper makes good nesting for the little critters. It's all over!!!
The rules are on a wall hanging one of my kids gave to me and says,

Outhouse Rules

*Be Neat
*Leave it like you want to find it
*Put the lid down (We put cheap toilet seats over the holes)
*Leave the paper for the next one
*Shut the door so the chickens won't get in
On the inside of the door it says "Please turn the light off"
It's just one of those touch lights.

May our life be as beautiful as the flowers that we grow!

I have an outhouse, too. Love the 'outhouse rules' idea. What are your rules? It is very handy when I'm out working in the garden. Just need to weed out that pesky poison ivy vine that keeps trying to creep in from the side. :O

We have a "cedar-sided two seater" that my husband built years ago and gave it to me as a birthday gift. When we have picnics and family gatherings we make everyone use the outhouse. It sure saves wear and tear on the house and it is certainly a conversation piece. It gets cleaned every spring for the season and is close to the garden for easy use when working in the yard and garden. We have "Outhouse Rules" posted inside and it even has a light. "Make sure you turn the light out when you are done".

May our life be as beautiful as the flowers that we grow!

Is it from an outhouse?

I thought that's what it looked like also. But I couldn't tell the size, for kids maybe.

I dunno. We had two out houses on the ranch where I grew up.

Years later, mother put a pen up around one of them, and converted the out house into a shed for her peacocks to roost in at night. She had two peacocks.

We called 'em a 'two-holer'. Always nice to have a friend along on a cold winter night. MB

Hi, Lisa! No, I let Wilma sell it. I bought it b/c it made me laugh out loud. :) There was some thought that David and I should put our portraits in there and hang it over the fireplace!! LOL! I think pics of me and David with pitchfork and hoe would have been best. Framed and mounted!

You are absolutely correct, Alee! LOL! Wilma had my dh hang it on her wall for a couple of months. One lucky person bought it!! :) Where would you hang it if it was yours???

well, I think I am getting an idea of how big it is so I think it is a double-seater for an outhouse!
