Posted - Jan 25 2011 : 2:18:36 PM I don't necessarily mean negativity directed towards you from another person, just negative energy in general. One place that I clean it is like the negativity clings to the whole place and everyone in it. Even on days when I work there for just a few hours I feel absolutely drained. How do you get rid of the raunchy feeling all that negative energy leaves?

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 08:16:01 AM I always try to find a pocket of time and space for me. Work on a favorite project that has been neglected for a while. Dress up, put on makeup and go for an outing with a friend. Sometimes dressing down to sloopiness is a pleasure. The best thing in any negativity attitude is walking. Take a long walk. One that makes your really tired. Visit a nursing home and hold a person's hand. Ask them about their childhhood, their children. Tell them about your memories. When you leave you will feel so young and blessed. Pray with the understanding that God will hear you and bless you.

Posted - Feb 08 2011 : 2:46:06 PM I avoid anyone who is a drama queen. I also leave things in the past alone. The past is the past and there is nothing you can do to change it. So I live for the future and the day I am in. If anyone comes over to my house to complain I usually excuse my self to the bathroom and stay in my bedroom until they are gone. Because all they are bringing into your life is negatism. It seems like my whole family is nothing but constant complainers. So I avoid them like the plaque. I get up each and every morning and focus on what will bring me happiness that day. Working in my garden, having lunch with one of my sons, sewing, shopping, getting a pedicure, looking in my cook books to see what magic I might create in my kitchen for dinner, volunteering, I make every day about me and my emediate family. And I say a long prayer every night! I only think about the good things that may come my way. Not the bad things that have happened that you cannot change. Keep negative people out of your life even if they are family!

I agree with arming yourself with prayer, and when you leave there, thank God that you have a loving home. One of my goals this year is to pray for my enemies. Posted - Feb 05 2011 : 07:48:01 AM I totaly understand about working in a negative enviornment. I am a behavioral assistant for three severly autistic children with a slew of medical issues that can shorten their lives. I work in the home so I have to work with the grandmother and the mother sometimes. It is very difficult to try and correct bad behavior with the children when the parents allow alot of the behavior to continue. Especially when one of the children is only 10 years old and is 165 pounds. They feel it is ok to eat anything the kids want. I mean anything, breakfast consits of cake, icecream, cookies, chips and soda. And its as much as they want. They feel the children dont have much of a life so this is what makes them happy let them eat it. Everyday I have to really focus on new ways to try and help these children and to stay positive myself. I have a nice hour long drive home that helps me unwind. I usually listen to positive cds or meditative music. And I also tell myself that god has me there for a reason. But I refuse to bring it home. My boyfriend and I work very hard on keeping a positive mental, physical, spiritual out look on life. Remember no one can make you feel anything unless you allow it. So dont allow it. Be happy that you are a positive and beautiful gift to the planet ladies. This is a painting I have done for an art contest. It shows how women lean on one another and the positive influence we have on each other. Hold on to what is real and true. Then let the rest of it go. Have a positive filled day girls www.FineArtByT.com http://tinasartisticramblings.blogspot.com/ |

Posted - Jan 27 2011 : 07:33:27 AM Pretend you are in a "vat" of happiness. Tell everyone to keep their ladles out of our "vat" and continue to focus on the positive. They may continue to try "scooping" out our joy, but refuse to let them. There is a lot of negativity around here now that my son is going on week 3 without any hours at work. Depressing times can cause negativity easily. We are focusing on keeping everyone moving in some way or another to fight it off. Exercise, physical work and movements.

Posted - Jan 27 2011 : 07:08:04 AM I just told my sister that if some her friends want to be negative, let them be ne,gative, she doesn't have to have that negative tension stay around her and she doesn't have to accept it. Also, for me personally my husband and I have been going through some tough times with our vehicles constantly breaking down, expensive fixes, not cheap ones. I was starting to get negative about it but then I decided that life is an adventure. This is just part of the ride so I can just accept that bad things happen, they don't last and then I can enjoy every day because negativity, if allowed to get a spot in your life, will just eat you up. Don't accept it! Besides at my old job I learned that I had to be the "positive" factor. Pretty soon the other people sloooowly stopped being negative and we found out it was just 2 ladies that were the negative culprits. So I took the initiative to talk to them and get to know them, despite their heavy negativity and found out they had such hard lives! I can totally understand that! But it was crazy how just 2 people can make an entire workplace negative.
I know its hard sometimes because negativity is so easy to get us down, but try to be positive, soon you will find out who is causing the negativity there and maybe they just need a good friend :) Hope this helps!

Posted - Jan 26 2011 : 4:27:08 PM Grace - great idea! Love it... :o)
Sounds like everyone is on the same page. Its amazing how you can really "feel" it. Melanie, my suggestion - along with everything else here - would be to start expressing gratitude for all the good in your life as you're working in that house - and continue it as you leave. Hang in there and be grateful that its only that one place that you feel negativity. Sounds like the others are ok - Life is good..

Posted - Jan 26 2011 : 09:59:39 AM I literally "brush" the negative away off my arms and off my chest. I also carry a little bottle of essential oil spray in am uplifting scent that I will spray once or twice if things are realy bothering me and enjoy the "fresh" air. There's always good music. And never forget to pray!

Posted - Jan 25 2011 : 2:38:17 PM Melanie--I find the best way to protect myself against negative energy is to build up positive energy before I enter such a place. Pray for the Holy Spirit to surround you and protect you. If that doesn't work, I would try to avoid the place as much as possible. I no longer attend meetings of a group I belonged to because the place where they meet is too negative (and has a bad history). Cindy
