I was visiting my parents in Minnesota last week, and decided to go dig around in the barn. I found two boxes of dishes from my Grandma's house. I remember loving them as a child. They are white porcelain with pink roses. Some of the pieces are chipped, and they were covered in dirt, but I brought them home, cleaned them up, and put them on my china hutch. It makes me smile everytime I look at it.

Elizabeth, I am so happy for you. When I think of her possibly choosing her pattern (& why she did), serving meals on them, washing them & placing them in her cupboard, you have a connection with her in a new way. I have a Coalport teacup & saucer that was made pre 1850 English stamp (not inked) came over from England, broken & tinkered in the handle, & found in Victoria BC. I always think of the person who made the set, painted it, who owned it originally, tinkered it and who wound up with it. So many hands have touched it.

What a find.
