I just thought I'd post a few "new-ish" discs that I have been loving lately. Here are my suggestions:

God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise by Ray LaMontagne
The Garden by Ruth Moody

What have you all been listening to lately?

XOXO, Libbie

He's really an amazing songwriter (Ray). My husband, also a songwriter, was sortof "meh" on him at first, then when I took him to the concert (I bought myself tickets for my birthday that year :)) he was completely speechless (which is difficult for my husband!!!)

Do check the Sting and Natalie Merchant projects out. We really love them both--the Natalie Merchant project is 2 whole cd's and it's just gorgeous, music, artwork et al.

I'd love to know what you think, Anne!

Gosh! I may be a latecomer to his music, but I can sure see why you've liked him for so long. I'll bet it was an amazing concert.

Okay - I love both Sting and Natalie Merchant, so I think I'm going to have to check out both the cd's.

Thanks, Jonni!

XOXO, Libbie

That's nice, Anne...I've loved Ray for about 6 years, now. Glad to see someone else loving him, too! Check out his other stuff, if you haven't already. Hard for me to choose a favorite album thus far. My husband and I saw him two years ago (first row, Orchestra) and it was the best concert I've seen in years.

We've been listening to the usual suspects in our house. Sting's If On a Winter's Night from last year gets pretty good play in the Winter. It's lovely.

Also Natalie Merchant's collection called Leave Your Sleep. It's supposed to be for children, in that it's a collection of nursery rhymes put to music. We love it though, ourselves, and the liner notes featuring each writer of the nursery rhymes are amazing. She did great research for this project, and it was really worth it!
