Posted - Jan 11 2011 : 08:28:38 AM I use Zote in place of Fels. Fels is made from petrochemicals where Zote is plant based. It is cheaper too. I find mine at Walmart, Big Lots or the 99 cent store.

Posted - Jan 08 2011 : 7:27:56 PM One bar of Fels Napa Soap shaved and melted in 5 cups of slightly boiling water,Have 5 gallon pail ready, disolve 1and 1/2 cups of arm and hammer washing soda, and 1 and1/2 cups of powdered borax. Pour melted soap in pail along with the other two mixes, Finish filling pail with HOT water and stir well. I pour a small bottle of Gain in after it cools for a good smell, but you dont have to because it does have a good outdoors smell any way. The next day after it cools I just pour into any kind of clean bottles. This is the best detergent I have ever used. I had a super quilt that had 4 huge brown circles and thought I could never get it clean well I soaked it about a day and a half and it came perfectly clean. Mom says it can be used in the dish washer but I havent tried that. will let you know if that works. Any questions just let me know
