I drove up the River Road today to look for eagles. didn't see any going towards Grafton, as the sun was in my eyes. But I saw a few coming back. They are such majestic birds. And the bluffs were tinged in gold by the sun, looking equally beautiful. I love to imagine what it would have been like for the Native Americans who once lived there.

Believe it or not, but we have bald eagles here in Oklahoma too. We are on the migratory path and it is absolutely thrilling to go outside, look up and see a spot that is gently circling lower and lower until you realize, "Oh! There's a white head and white on the wings!!" They really hang out around the refuge in Tishomingo and in the trees on various ranches down there. They are majesitic birds to be sure. MaryBeth, those pictures are great!!

We had a nest of eagles very near our old house. When I hear them in the sky, I would rush outside with my camera but never got a good shot of them. They are beautiful!

We used to drive up to Prairie du Sac every year for the bald eagle days. Then starting adding in a Quad Cities "tour" along the Mississippi. Love them, so beautiful! Now they're nesting about an hour from me. Not so much of a drive now.

I love watching them "fish". It's an incredible site to see. Along with the sheer numbers there are now. Not uncommon to see 20-30 roosting near a dam.
