Our little one will be 2 in just 2 months...Can hardly believe it! I haven't posted pics here in a bit...I do sometimes on facebook, but for those gals who haven't seen Miss Violet is a bit, I thought you might like to. For those who never have, "hello!" She's really grown nicely, and is such a funny little girl. She has (quite literally, overnight) become aware that she is her own person, and "no" has entered our vocabulary, but it's not insurmountable, and will, in all likelihood, change to something else in 2 weeks time!

These were taken just before Thanksgiving, after and just before Christmas. We did some wonderful things for the holidays--train displays, German Christmas festivals with petting zoos. These pictures sum up my year nicely--helping this little girl grow to the happy little person she is, each and every day.

Alee, they really, really are. She is both cracks us up and wears us out! I'm loving her new found independence, and am really trying not to squash it, though there has to be SOME end to "no!" :)

Thanks, Dawn. She is such a joy--it feels like a whirlwind since she was born, in a wonderful way.

Jonni- don't forget to catch your breath! The two and three year old years are amazing and fun! Sure there are going to be the inevitable struggles as she tries to become independent. But you will be amazed at the things she learns and how quickly.

LOL!! Miss Wilma is soooo right--Violet is a speed racer! You'd think this farmgirl would lose some of these hips chasing her around, but nothin' doin'!! We are lucky to live so close to Janice (Miss Bee Haven) and Miss Wilma that we can visit several times a year, and she's right--Sterl and David (the men in their lives) are wonderful sitters!

@Ruth--thanks so very much--I remember you saying your mother's middle name was Violet and that means a lot. I love that this old name brings back good memories for folks! Our Violet does love animals--she has 4 large dogs, so she was well acquainted, and seems to be fearless. She sure loved those chickens--probably because she could pick them up :)

@Jeannie and Amy Grace--thank you! It's hard to believe the last time I posted photos was around her 1st birthday, but it just goes by too fast. We feel VERY blessed.

@Marybeth--absolutely, positively take a bow! She is eating much better, but there are days...and now, as I've mentioned, we've started "noooooo!" for just about anything :) She will actually say it just to her toys, now and again. Think she's spirited?

@Megan--it's hard to believe we're into another year, isn't it? Thanks for the compliments--we're still on the fence about "who" she resembles, but I do hear my husband say, "I see you making that ornery mommie mouth!" :)

Awww, Jonni, she is adorable!! I remember I had just joined the forum here, and it was her first birthday. She was cute then, and she is cute now!

Jonni, she sure looks like a sweet child. Remember all the worrying about what she wouldn't eat and what she would and now she is 2 and quite beautiful. They try our patience and we love 'em all the more.
I raised 4 daughters all 2yrs apart. They actually turned out pretty darn good. I will take a bow. LOL MB

Thanks, Carol! I've really enjoyed this age. She's so funny, and she seems to enjoy just about everything!

@Kris...well, I'm not so great at the sewing thing, but at least I can add some extra elastic here and there. I'm glad to know she's not the only one difficult to find clothing for. I bet Kansas will always be that way--I know my husband is STILL tough to find sizing for. For most of our marriage he was 28/32, now he's a 31/32. Couldn't just be a "normal" size :)

Jonni, that's the way Kansas is too. She's tall and skinny so hard to find pants that are long enough and fit around the waist. Poor kid. She can still fit size 5 and she's 7 now. I guess it'd be good to be able to sew and make clothes for these kids.

Thanks, Kris...she really is a delight. I think she just might be a farmgirl--she loves those animals, that's for sure. Treats the goats and sheep like her dogs (they're just about the same size, I think :) Horses she calls "Rose", after our German Shepherd! She's growing to be just like her daddy, though, all leg. She's such a skinny-minny--hard to find pants that are long enough that fit her around the waist. I do a bit of "elasticizing" just about every pair, even the ones that have it built in!

She sure has grown. Last time I saw a picture she was a little baby. She is so cute. And maybe a future farmgirl? Thanks for all the cute pictures.

I know, Nancy. I'm sure you remember all too well how quickly time passed with your children. I look at her now and think, "wow, you're a little person!" Especially when I ask her a question, and she answers me in context! I bought those shoes before she was born (you'll be so proud of me...at the thrift), where most of her clothes, if not all, come from. If they were ever worn, it didn't show, and are from Germany-Burgandy patent leather and suede.
