Did everybody get what they wanted for christmas. I really wanted a kitched aid food processor with all the bells and whistles for canning and when a little box showed up under the tree last week I was quite disappointed, but the sweet man just wanted to fool me and just wrapped up a few of the attachments and hid the rest! I was thrilled. Did you get what you wanted or will you be standing in line this week to exchange???

The kind of CHristmas gifts I like the best are the ones that aren't wrapped for me under the tree. I got to go out on the day after Christmas for "Mommy and Me Time" and go to see a movie together with my adult daughter who came home for Christmas. We went to see "The FIghter." That was on the 26th of December. Then on the 28th of December, I went with my hubby to see "The Fighter." The kind of Christmas gifts I like the best are the memories of time together. They don't come wrapped in ribbon. But they are ever so sweet long after Christmas has past and the ornaments put away. They leave a smile in my heart when I think of them. I also received my first issue of "MARY JANE'S FARM" shortly before Christmas and was just thrilled. Here I am this 2011 enjoying being a new FARMGIRL SISTER and looking forward to new friendships and more happy memories to make and enjoy!

DH gave me a new knitting bag, "Everything Mary Rolling Knit Tote", from Joann's. It's a knitting/needle bag on wheels so I don't have such a hard time toting everything when I teach my classes. Very thoughtful, and some comfy shoes and a new sweater. :)

I got most of the things I asked for :) I wanted a couple cookbooks and I didn't get those, but I don't have room on the shelf anyways so that's probably why! I got a new bathrobe, the first 2 seasons of Bones, a Tetris game for the XBOX (my husband is convinced someday I'll play video games...Riiight) Eclipse on DVD and a ceramic to-go coffee mug, the ones with the silicone lid and gripper. My Inlaws got me a cast iron dutch oven for when we go camping and my stepdaughter made me a book of recipes to go with it. Our printer was working overtime to get it finished! We also got some gift cards from my ma, and she bought me some new bras too. It's great that when Mom asks what I want for christmas I can tell her something that I really need and she'll get it. She was going to get me a gift card from the store I go to, but when she got there she discovered a sale (buy 2 get 2 free!) so she called to get my size and just bought them since I wasn't going to get there before the sale was over. Moms are great! (and so is the rest of my family ;))

Love the camper it is really cute. I am thinking about leaving my Christmas village up until next year. Then adding to it thru out the year. My new little grand son loves looking at it. He is 8 weeks old. He loves all of the lights especially on the merry go round.

I received a wonderful surprise in the mail! It was such a delight to receive and enjoy.

Yesterday the kids surprised me with a late Christmas gift. I am sure my oldest child, the only one with a job, had something to do with ordering it. To see it, go to my "mom" blog listed below. I can't wait to buy a camper just like it some day.

My mom died right before Christmas so our Christmas was interrupted, but I got a 1950 red Chevy pickup to go with my farm. The barn was made by someone for their children to play with and I have a lot of animals and a tractor. The pick up is so cool. It is full of dirt inside the bed and the windshield wipers are wiping the dirt off the windows. I also got a Hallmark ornament of snoopy in his artists outfit. I love toys for Christmas. I've already got many of the things all of you asked for. We've been married for 48 1/2 years.

My sweet hubby got me a greenhouse! Nothing fancy, but good enough to start with. A couple of months ago I was lamenting the fact that we probably couldn't afford one, but he found one in a decent price range and jumped on it. I was truly surprised, which was another good gift - he's never been able to completely surprise me in 18 years!

I got exactly what I wanted! I had really wanted a house full of company this year, but life took over and any hopes for that kind of celebration weren't panning out. But on Christmas day, our son's godmother called to wish us a Merry Christmas shortly after her kids left their Christmas brunch celebration with her. I thought she had dinner plans with other family, but she didn't. I invited her to come celebrate with us, and after a little coaxing, she came! And we had the best Christmas that we've had in a long time! The house wasn't "full," per se, but it sure was full of love, lively conversation and lots of laughter! It was the best! I was so happy! :) Oh! I also received a gift card from my husband good towards all the materials he needs to build me the kitchen island I've been asking for. I saw one on t.v. years ago made out of an old recycled bureau and fell in love. We've been talking and planning it for a long time, but I had no idea that he was planning this as my Christmas surprise! (He's not a carpenter by trade, but boy does he make beautiful stuff! You should SEE the bed he made for me out of an antique door! It's awesome, and I will treasure it always!) These past few weeks have just been so busy that there simply wasn't time for him to even attempt tackling that project, but I know his "IOU" is good! I can't WAIT to see what he creates! We are going to start searching for the perfect old bureau at local thrift stores and junk shops on the weekends! YAY! :) And the best part is that my son's going to help make it for me! Another treasured keepsake from my guys! SO awesome!! - Nini

Its fun to read what everyone received - I loved the "Ken Doll" and Windex jokes. Very funny. I received lots of nice things from family and friends - but right now, I'm wearing my new brown plaid flannel-lined Crocs and polar fleece socks - since my feet are so warm - and its so cold here - they're my favorites for the moment.

I got a Kitchenaid stand mixer, Professional model (I am not worthy) and new cookware. I got the hint, I'll be cooking more! I had asked for both, but expected maybe one thing this year and the other next year. But DH said I'm worth it, so I choose to believe him. I also got some lovely items from local DD and family, and microfiber towels for the newly remodeled bathroom from second DD. Best part was having family here for a big brunch on Christmas day.

I was blessed with wonderful gifts too - mostly that my son is growing up and thinking about others and wanting to give gifts that really mean something. It's wonderful to see your kids growing up to be good people.

Boy, it sounds like everyone received wonderful gifts. Betsy, you will love your kindle. I have had mine for a couple of years and take it everywhere with me. I love the feel of books too and didn't think I would care for it, but I was wrong! There are so many free books to download, authors I would never have tried, but I thought well it's free so why not, and have really gotten into some of the stories. I have even put some word games on it and now I have to fight my DH for it in the evenings.

Dorinda - A Kindle is in my words, "a fancy reading machine". It's an electronic reader that holds about 1,000 books that can be downloaded. I debated on whether I wanted one because I love the feel and smell of real books, but it sure is handy and easy to transport!

Glad Santa was good to everyone!!! Santa was a bit too generous at our house this year, but then, he always is...

This year, I've been so distressed that I haven't been able to give to charity like I'd like to--I just feel like, with as little as we have, we still have more than others. So my sweet husband made a donation in my honor to the Free Store Food Bank for $75.00, which is REALLY important to me. He also bought me a beautiful Jamie Oliver cookbook that I wanted, a plane grater, a fish spatula for my cast iron grill pan and a brand new spatula, all from Sur Le Table, and the book called "Oogy", that I've wanted for some time. My stocking was filled with wonderful candies, and spices for the kitchen--whole nutmeg, star anise, fennel seeds and a few others that are hard to come by.

For our family gift exchange, as I requested, my fil made donations to 2 of my favorite charities in my name, and that made my Christmas, for sure!

Sounds like everyone had a nice Christmas. This was the first time in years I haven't been with my family. This time I was with the BFs. We had a nice quiet Christmas morning (me up early putting in a turkey to take to his families for lunch) and took our time (according to me not him) with gifts. We had a very nice walk, and then went to his folks, had dinner, they exchanged gifts. I even got a few things! I wasn't expecting anything so that was a nice surprise. We've been dating 1 1/2 years now. Some socks and chocolate but it was very nice that his brother's family who've I hardly talked with (once) got them. Then we played "Slam" a scrabble card game. His sister and I rocked at it, and we laughed so hard. It was one of the more peaceful Christmas I've had in a very long time. My family is a bit more vocal and at least one outbreak will occur before gifts are finished.

And my sister got me canning jars!!! never enough of those. ;)

I received a subscription to MJF and a bathrobe from my df. My daughter got me a french chef cutting board that goes with my kitchen theme. Best gift was having my son home before he deploys to Afghanistan in February. The kids also gave me some cash to put towards a coat, which is a need. I'm well pleased with the gifts I got.

This Christmas meant a lot to me! It was mine and my fiancés first Christmas together which we spent it at my house with my parents because he is from Pocatello Idaho and we can't afford to go there right now. However I did receive some pretty note cards, John Deere pj bottoms, Tale of Two Cities & Great Expectations by Charles Dickens (so I can follow the Oprah book club), also my dad bought me the new iPad, and I got a few t-shirts, and quilt fabric and the 2011 Veggie Tales calendar! Yep I'm 22 but I still love my Veggie Tales! :) and I got slippers that look like cowboy boots! But the most amazing gift is the gift I get every Christmas, the reminder of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, without him there would be no Christmas.

We had an amazing Christmas. My aunt started it off early giving us the house, money from a couple of my clients, a gift card to Lowe's from my sweetie, a boombox from my mom and a pritive rag doll from my sister. (She of thinks this doll is the ugliest thing to ever grace this planet, but I LOVE her!!!) And of course time with my family and friends and lots of food!

Glad to hear Santa was good to everyone else too this year! I think he went a little bit off the deep end at my house this year.....I got a mixer, a blender, a cast iron dutch oven, a paper shredder, a set of tupperware containers, several needle felting tools, 5 craft books, a magazine subscription and three Rosemaling CD's. Bewtween my BF and my parents that was nearly everything on my Amazon.com wish list! My favorite of all was my SIL's gift. She found a large hand tatted tablecloth in a second hand store for $5.00! It was mislabeled as being crocheted but is absolutely gorgeous and in great condition. Can't wait to get it cleaned and put it on my table!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Betsy, What is a Kindle? I got for christmas this year a necklace from my DH. A canister set with Roosters on them from my son. They are really beautiful. And a pop sickle maker from my youngest son that is suppose to make frozen pops in 9 minutes. To cold to make them right now. But will come in handy this summer.
