Well, at 1:40am, we should be seeing a total lunar eclipse on the Winter Solstice for the first time since the 1600s! So, for all you ladies up late, look at the moon in a bit! I am going to take some photos. :0)

We set our alarm and got up and saw it at 2:40 am. It was worth it, didn't get pics, though. Those were some great ones, thanks for sharing.

My DH is sooooo into astronomy! But, here in Ohio it was too dang cloudy. But I'll be sure to show him the awesome pics, though!

Clouds here too!
Do you know we had a lunar eclipse, during a full moon, at the winter solstice? Do you also know that that hasn't happened since the 1600's...something to behold. Sorry I missed it...thanks for the photos!

Remember I said it was overcast and cloudy but the moon peeked through occasionally. So this is what I got. MB

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!!

I watched it and took some pictures. It was cloudy but the clouds were moving and the moon peeked out so my images are not the best but they will do for me. 10:30 to 11:30 here. MB

Here in the Mountain zone it started earlier, about 10:30pm. I watched until around midnight, then went to bed. DH asked why I felt the need to stay up and watch. I guess it's because we pay so little attention to natural occurrances anymore. Especially this time of year, we are so frantic with our shopping, cooking, cleaning for the holidays. It was good to go out, freezing as it was, and look to the heavens and be in awe of something bigger than myself. It is said Creation is the 5th gospel, where God's lavish love for us is written in broad strokes. To stand and gaze at an event that hadn't been seen for almost 400 years was awesome.

Saw a bit of it this evening . . . the huge circle around the moon. Pretty cool, unfortunately we have clouded up.
