did/does or says/said that you said you would never do, but have found yourself doing the very thing? So many times I think to myself( of course) I'm doing the same thing my mother did! Yep like fussing about the doors being closed or the curtains closed in the middle of the day. Well that's just the beginning. My hubby tells me all the time you are acting just like your mother!! Oh boy! What about you girls?

Ladies...thanks for the condolences..hope I spelled that right. I know she is in a better place and not in pain. She lived a long life. I hope I live as long or longer...

WOW what some great answers! lol Deborah, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I can not imagine what you are going thru, big hugs go out to ya and you will be in my prayers.

No. Much to her dismay. LOL.
What I find myself doing is apologizing constantly to my mother and then asking her to make it stop. Let's just say that my kids are verrrrrry interesting. And I start wondering what I did as a child to deserve this type of treatment. LOL.

My Mother just died this past Monday (13th), she was 91. She would always tell me "cause I said so" and I said I would never say that to my children...Well I have said it many times to my Daughter and to my Granddaughters...And My Daughter said the same thing when she was younger....and she says it to her daughters...

The one thing I always said that I would never do is tell my child "Because I SAID SO!!!!" Sometimes the frustration just got me to that level and I would yell "BECAUSE I SAID SO - THAT'S WHY!!" LOL!!

If someone said your acting like your mom I would take that as a real compliment. My mother was/is a wonderful mom. I have not been around her much in the last 30 years as she lives on the west coast and I on the east coast but growing up my mom was very loving, encouraging, supportive, and helpful in whatever way she could. The only nagging I remember my mom doing was about cleaning my room or washing the dishes.
BUT....I have heard my daughter say a few times lately "OH NO I'm turning into my mom - I wonder if that a good thing or bad thing in her eyes LOL.
Oh well, I am going to see my mom the end of this month, her birthday is January 1 and she will be 89.

hahaha! my mom could never, ever leave the house (not even to go to the market) w/o making sure it was tidy.
I guess she was afraid that it Robbers broke in, they would be totally appolled if the house was mess!  lol!
As a teen I would 'roll' my eyes that she was such a fuss....and yet here I am,(decads past my teens),,, and I too, like her, alway take a 2nd glance around to make sure things are tidy,,,,a place for everything & everything in it's place.....(thanx mom), with the 1 exception.......my sew/craft room! Heaven forbid that a robber go down there...he probablly would feel compelled to tidy the room up first so he could see if there is anything of value to steal! lol!
Hmmmmm! maybe I am on to something! lol!

Yep...and everytime I realize it, I get SO frustrated with myself. My mother (like her mother), and I say this with much love, is a bit of a nag. And, like elephants, she never forgets! When I was 15, I left the storm door ajar, and we had some freak storm later in the evening, that blew the door wide open, quickly, and jerked it off the hinges and broke the frame. SOME STORM. I'm 37 now, and each and every time I'm at her house, she says, "Don't forget to latch the storm door, because you don't, and then things happen..." I remind her that I'm now 37, and that those "things" happened when I was 15!!!!
But, alas, I find myself doing the same thing...I think I tell my husband EVERY night to make sure both doors are locked, including the storm doors and I go round, checking to make sure the smoke detectors are in their proper place (he takes them down when he makes bacon and then forgets to put them up). If one is missing, I end up saying something...
So yep, I sound like my mother--I know it, and I can hardly help myself!

Hehe, funny Karen.
Oh yes! But what's really funny to me is how my Mom has turned into her Mom. My granny was a quilter and my Mom said she'd never get into that. At age 65 she started quilting a couple years ago. Also, my granny would watch the Lifetime channel ALL DAY LONG and my Mom would complain when we'd go visit. Guess what channel my Mom ALWAYS watches!? Yep, lifetime. And when we used to leave my granny's house, we'd have to start out the door 30min before we really needed to leave. We'd say we were going to head out, granny would have to pack up leftovers, then we'd stand outside the door saying goodbye, then we'd walk to the car and she'd follow us until we were in our car with our window rolled down talking as we started to roll out of the driveway. My Mom now, does the same thing!
So, from what I can tell I'll end up quilting (don't at the moment), watching lifetime, and never let my relatives leave. :)

My mom was the most awesome lady, so frugal, yet very creative. I find myself now saying the same thing she always said, "don't throw that away - I can make something out of that"!
