Thought I would share my day with you. It is one of the lowest tides of the year today so my daughter and I went early this morning to the beach. We walked along one beach in the warm morning sun picking up driftwood and chatting with the locals and met Buddy the golden retriever who owns ALL the sticks on the two mile long beach! We then drove a little further up the island to Muir Creek. This empties out of the mountains down into an estuary/lagoon and out to the beach. We hiked along the creek to the estuary (no bears today!) and then out to the open beach. The killer whales were breaching out by the point and there were "slabs of seals" sunning themselves on the rocks. The blue herons were feasting themselves in the little tide pools which are full of the most marvelous colored seaweeds and little crabs.
Wish you all could have joined us.

You are so very right Theresa, it is so healing. My daughter works at our hospital and is in the trauma unit on a frequent basis. It is particularly head-clearing for her. I find it very grounding to be on such a remote beach and makes life's trivial things so unimportant.
Today I have to do some city things...hand re-xrayed and co-sign a student loan for another daughter.. and I feel so relaxed going in today.
And I just looked out my window to see chickens in the flower beds!! What ??? I'll be back later...lol.

I am so green with envy.... Sounds like a wonderful time! The ocean really does heal the spirit.

What a great experience for you and your daughter. I love it when a fellow farmmgirl shares times like those with all of us. I can just picture and hear and feel the ocean in the way you described it all.

Peace

Wow. Sounds like you live in a wonderful place. How great to live near the ocean. If I had choose another place to live my first choice would be by the Ocean. It is soooo great.

Take care

Oh Diane,

It sounds like an absolutely perfect day! How wonderful that you can share all that with your daughter.
