I have to go to the vet this morning to have my cat put down. He is very old, and for the past week has done nothing but sit in a chair on my front porch. I bring him food and water, but he is just slowly slipping away. It is going to be a very tough morning for me. I got some clay to make an impression of his paw. Just thought I'd share with you all.

So many of you here at Maryjane's farm are so wise and so kind. I bless the day that I picked up that magazine in the store and brought it home to pour through it and find the website. Bless you all......and I know that a cat's passing isn't anywhere near the heartache that losing a parent or child is........but I still thank you all for your support from the bottom of my heart. Georgette, May you soon find peace in this very un-peaceful time for you. The death of a furry family member is difficult. (I have found one such death to be unbearable...but, am bearing it.) Having cats and dogs as part of the family greatly enriches our lives. I feel strongly that it is worth it...even knowing each animal will most likely pre-decease us and we will have to go through what you are currently going through. You will remain in my thoughts. Dragon will always remain in your heart. Rebekah

Oh, Paula, my Dragon cat had the clearest blue eyes as well. THat is the last thing I saw, were his beautiful blue eyes. Yes, Debbie, they sure do get to be a part of the family.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Georgette

My heart goes out to you. We had to put down one of our little darlin's a few weeks ago as well. Miss Frannie was such a beautiful cat with her clear blue eyes. She was so devoted to my youngest daughter. She ended up having a tumor on her face and even though we hit it hard with antibiodics..it still didn't help. She lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks. We decided the best thing was to let her go. We had her cremated? and our daughter made a beautiful urn for her in school. She now has a place of honer on my daughters dresser. It was so heart breaking...and I still cry thinking about her....but we now have adopted a frisky little bundle of fur named Princess and I just know that she's going to bring tons of smiles and joy to this family for a very long time.
Take care...and here's a huge hug for you.

Georgette,

So sorry. One of my cats, Hobbes, is starting to get slower and skinnier and he is such a love. I will be so torn up when it's his time. They are a part of our family and our life and my thoughts are with you.

Georgette,

Every dog I have ever owned has taught me something about being a better owner. It sounds as if your kitties have lessons for you and that you are listening. No one is perfect but you're improving all the time. Now honor Dragon by thinking of all the good times you had and thank him for the lessons he taught you.

Wow what a hard thing that was yesterday. My son and his girlfriend went with me, he peed on my son on the way to the vets and my son who doesn't usually have a lot of patience for that sort of thing, was very cool about it. He and I held Dragon as they gave him the shot. My sweetheart made him a tiny little casket and had a grave dug when we got home. I cried all over again when I read what everyone wrote. Patricia you said I am being the very best friend to him that I could, why does it feel like I am just simply being calous and oh, he's old and no good anymore, lets get rid of him. That's how I'm feeling. Not only that, but my Scooter cat had diabetes and in January of 2001 I had him put down. My youngest son and I went and said goodbye to him and then just left.....I didn't do for him what I did for Dragon........now I feel guilty about that..........Seeing how very peaceful Dragon's passing was, I wish so much I would have done that for Scooter. I know this isn't the same as losing a family member (person) but all in all a rough weekend.

Thanks everyone for all your kind words. Georgette

That's sure the way I want to go. Georgette, you are being the very best friend to him you can. And don't be surprised if one of these days you see a little kitty who acts just like him smile up at you and say, "Hi Mom!" I'm sending you lots of courage and love to get you through this.

Georgette, My thoughts are with you but be comforted that you are giving him the last best gift that you can give him. To go with dignity in the hands of some one who loves him.

And hugs from me as well. I love that you will keep a physical impression of your kitty as well as the emotional one.
