Maybe it just comes from working in a hospital, but I wish people (including doctors) wouldn't talk about patients' operations, body functions, etc. on their cell phones so everyone can hear. I can understand the need to keep others informed, but can't they find a private spot to talk? I sure wouldn't want other people to hear about my medical history, even if they don't know me. I was in the bathroom at the hospital the other day and some woman was yakking on her cell phone. To flush or not to flush, that is the question. I sure wouldn't want to be the person on the other end of the line. Whatever happened to courtesy? Not to mention privacy. Anyone else get peeved over this? I can't be the only one.

Cindy Lou, I had to chuckle about your experience in a bathroom stall; I've had that happen too and it startles the heck out of me. How about those people who can't do their grocery shopping without being on the phone wondering what they should get for dinner; hello, what ever happened to planning ahead and making a list? One of my most annoying experiences was stopping at a local farmers market where they make the best pies and had a woman on her cell phone actually blocking any access to the pies while she was waiting for the person on the other end to tell her which pie to purchase. Not kidding, she kept stepping in front of me to keep me from picking up the only apple pie on the shelves while she kept up this chatter about which pie this other person would prefer. I finally said I don't want the apple pie and she let me pass.

I find it incredible that people either don't realize or don't care who hears conversation. Now it is common that private conversations are there for everyone to hear and there is no cell phone etiquette. This is a new form of rudeness.

Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do!

I get that at the college too-you'd be amazed at the kids who come to pay & cannot get off the phone for 3 min. Just rude,I tell you,and I've also had ones that text away while I'm trying to help them. There is a sign in the window that says "no cell phone use while at the window" but they don't even see it. Now I do carry a cell phone when I'm out,but have only used it once or twice when I've really needed to. I'd love to take these kids back to when I was their age & you just had to wait to get home to make a call or use a pay phone. I don't think they'd make it thru the day.

It isn't just medical stuff, its all kinds of "way too much information"; financial, relationships arguements. I've been in a bathroom stall and heard a hearty "Hello there!" even knowing its not for me its still a might creepy. I grew up in a time when personal info was personal not out there for the world to hear and wonder about.

In stores you see those customers so invoved in conversations that they hold up the checkout line by not paying attention to the checkout person. When we went out to eat last week there was a family gathering, obviously a planned thing and one guy ignored his kids and parents to leave the table for several calls. Why bother to go together then?
While I'm on a rant I also want to include those chatting and texting drivers. Multi-tasking is not something to do while driving!

Cell phones can open a world of convenience but wow! the rudeness that has developed around them is amazing.
