Posted - Nov 12 2010 : 8:43:57 PM I am tatting a scarf for someone for Christmas. It's going to be very simple in design with the linked ring pattern from the MaryJane's Stitching Room book then a linking row of just rings and then another row of linked rings. I am thinking I will do make it about 4 feet long so it can be a fashion scarf and each center ring is going to have a clear crystal bead (small) so the scarf is delicate but sparkly. Do you think that sounds pretty? Would you wear it if you were given it? Oh yes, and the thread I am using is bright crimson.

Posted - Nov 13 2010 : 11:24:45 PM Hi Melody- Tatting is easie than Crochet! I learned how to do it by reading MaryJane's Stitching Room and practicing/self teaching during a plane flight! You can use a variety of strings or threads but I usually get the cotton blend that you find at most craft stores.
I'll post a picture on Monday or Tuesday once I have a bit of the middle done.
Thanks ladies!

Posted - Nov 13 2010 : 8:12:53 PM Sounds beautiful! I love the idea of a little "sparkle" added on.
I knitted a scarf for my oldest daughter a few years ago and added some beads on the tassels...she wore it one evening and left it at a restaurant. When she went back it was gone-She was CRUSHED. You know what Alee? You have inspired me to make her another one for this year!
Is tatting difficult? What kind of yarn do you use? Can you post a photo?
