Today is Veteran's Day. I am so grateful for all the Vet's, past and present. They know the true meaning of sacrifice. Because of them, we continue to be FREE. So please join me, my Farmgirl Friends, in saying a prayer or thanking a Veteran today. I personally would like to remember my Dear Departed Dad for his service during the Korean War. I also want to thank my DH and SIL, for their service. My DH is a veteran of the Gulf War and Iraq. My SIL is a veteran of Iraq. My DH served two deployments to Iraq and My SIL served three. Thank You for your courage, selflessness and sacrifices. I will try to keep Veteran's Day in my heart every day.

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

God bless each and every one and their families. Our nephew was killed in Iraq on his 4th tour.

Love my soldiers, airmen, and marines...past and present. My grandfather, father, sweetheart, uncle, brother-in-law, countless friends, and even my ex-husband.

I hugged my retired Marine yesterday, and mourned the loss of my warrior Dad who passed 15 years ago this month. I also mourn my granddad who was gassed in WWI and lived with lung disease the rest of his life. I come from a long line of warriors who answered the call. God bless them all.

The morning breeze has secrets to tell you. Do not go back to sleep.

I hope everyone had a great Veteran's Day. My son's school gave a great Veteran's Day conference yesterday. It was very moving and at the end all the veterans were asked to stand up for a standing ovation.

This is truly a special day to honor each year. Our rights were given to us by God, but it is the men and women in uniform, thoughout the history of our country, who have protected those rights with their lives.

I want to share a poem that I read in the newspaper today:

Just a Common Soldier by A. Lawrence Vaincourt

He was getting old and paunchy and his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion, telling stories of the past.
Of a war that he had fought in and the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies; they were heroes, every one.
And tho' sometimes, to his neighbors, his tales became a joke,
All his Legion buddies listened, for they knew whereof he spoke.
But we'll hear his tales no longer for old Bill has passed away.
And the world's a little poorer, for a soldier died today.
He will not be mourned by many, just his children and his wife,
For he lived an ordinary and quite uneventful life.
Held a job and raised a family, quietly going his own way,
And the world won't note his passing, though a soldier died today.
If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say,
Our country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.

My paternal grandfather fought during WWII in the Pacific in the Navy , my uncles and cousins have all been in the army in numerous wars, and my dad fought in Vietnam. I am proud of each and everyone of them. I am grateful for their selflessness and courage. I am thinking of my Dad and all of my family in the military and from there to all of the others who have fought for our freedom. I honour you today and always!
