Posted - Oct 27 2010 : 1:20:39 PM Just took this photo today . . .winter has arrived in SW Colorado. It has been COLD the last few days and this is what the LaPlata Mountains look like. They are a subrange of the San Juan Mountains which are part of the Colorado Rocky Mountains range. The highest peaks in this photo are over 13,000 ft. in elevation and they are less than 50 miles from my house, (we live at 7000 ft. elevation). And this is the view from my east windows . . .every day . . .STUNNING! Ya' outta see the sunrises, too!! Yup . . .hiked, camped, fished, backpacked . . . several times in them thar 'hills'. Thought I'd share a bit of my part of the world with you . . . a BEAUTIFUL part . . .southwest Colorado. Thought you might like the barn too . . sorry about the irrigation sideroll . . not much I could do about it!! Thanks for looking! CJ

Posted - Oct 31 2010 : 3:14:12 PM "Simply Ann" . . . NOPE, those mountains ain't up for barter. They're "MY MOUNTAINS"!!! Sorry!!
Violet . . .we MAY get some of California blowing in here, but it's two states away and, for the most part, doesn't make it here. But who knows.
Ruth we are on the OTHER side of the state from Colorado Springs . . . approx 360 miles. It's a drive OVER a lot of our Rocky Mountain passes and can be very tricky in winter months. But that scenery in between here is just INDESCRIBABLE!!!
Yup . . . looking at those mountains right now out my kitchen window!! :) CJ

If they could only talk and tell us all the stories that took place within their walls! How far are you from Colorado Springs? We were there recently visiting with our son and his family! Beautiful area of the country! Thanks for sharing your beauty! hugs, Ruth

Posted - Oct 31 2010 : 08:06:15 AM CJ, I'm surprised you didn't say California!
Some parts of California are so industrialized and pockets of unclear air form at different places.
At times we have gorgeous views of the west side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Especially now and in the early Spring.

Posted - Oct 28 2010 : 7:06:09 PM Hey Michele . . . I go barefoot in the winter time too! But, on REALLY chilly days I have some slippers that were crocheted for me by Karrieann!!! I don't know how to knit or crochet . . . don't have time to learn anymore things.
Thanks girls for enjoying the photo. Laurie . . aka "Montrose Girl" . . .I knew you'd be lookin' from another angle. You get to see the Sneffels Range, the Cimarrons . . . and go into Ouray and sit in that hot springs soak and enjoy Mt. Abrams. Hope to do that sometime this winter!!!
Saturday, I'm headed to Durango, which is 50 miles away and on the OTHER side of those mountains . . . so I'll get a closer look at that snow when I go over.
THANKS AGAIN!! Like I said, I LOVE "MY" Mountains!!! CJ

Kris, the barn isn't ours, it is our neighbors just a bit down the road. And you girls can come visit anytime! We can sit on the deck, build a fire in the firepit and drink coffe, make s'mores and enjoy the view . . and being together!!! We could laugh, be silly and make all our neighbors jealous!!! Com on over!!! Audry, Yup . . Norwood is not far . . to the north of us. Been there many times. CJ

Posted - Oct 27 2010 : 3:40:14 PM Oh my goodness, what a beautiful view!! I love it. And I really am lovin' that old barn too. Is that yours? It is beautiful out there. But I am glad that's where the snow is. It's hot here right now. We've been having tornadoes here the pasy few days. Very strange. You are very fortunate, CJ.
