I got a text message on my cell phone, and I don't know who sent it. I didn't even KNOW I could get texts on my cell phone; I can't send them, cause my cell is a Jitterbug and it doesn't have text capacity, doesn't take pictures, etc. There is a phone number listed for the text but I don't recognize it. Very few people even know my cell phone number, so I'm a bit perplexed. (By the way, it was a nice text). I don't want to call the number cause it could be someone I don't know, maybe they sent it by mistake. Is there any way I can find out the identity from the number alone? I've never gotten a text message before.

Just go into your browser and type in the number. Usually it will come up. Are you on facebook? You can check the numbers of people you know on facebook. If you have friended them that is.

I tried to google it but no results. Gee, I hope it wasn't someone I know--it was a really sweet message.

Probably they dialed the wrong number and got you instead of who they wanted. Has happened to us a few times where they're off by 1 number or something like that. I wouldn't worry about it.

Sometimes you can find the identity of a phone user by googling the phone number. I wouldn't call it back if it was me
