just received my mother mag. article on systemic pesticides that have been in use since 1998. these chemicals DO NOT WASH OFF> they stay in plant tissue and we eat them. the particles on the plant pollen were 3 times enough to kill a honeybee. they are seeing colony collapse from these chemicals. what is worse is when dew drips from the plant it is filled with the chemical. the bee drinks it and dies almost immediately. if it hurts a bee it hurts us. we are eating franken foods for sure. it is so scary to me. since the pathway that would cope with these chemicals in me is broken i get very sick. the pathway in a bug that they destroy is the porphyrin one. thats how the bug is killed. so in humans we have the same pathway so to speak. we make hemoglobin the bug makes bug juice. when this pathway is broken there is no fixing. no going back. its the same for the bees and insects God created for our happiness and good. man is ruining the earth. the hope is that Jah will fix it. He promises us that.he also says the meek shall inherit the earth. there is comfort for me in that.

I share this since so many of us farmgirls care about the bugs and bees etc. we care about our families. i am to the point in my illness that eating conventional grown would could make me so ill. they said in the article over the years it has built up in the soil. that the next season plant has more than double the chemical in the plant tissue we eat. plant roots take it up in soil from previous year plus the spray they use on current year. epa is checking on it.lol they say it will be 2014 before they know. so spray till then you farmers. the damage will be huge i think. so sad to see such a beautiful earth suffer this way. well girls i will get off the soap box now. happy days on the farm eating real food sherrye

The things going on with the food supply is horrible. The rate and increases of auto immune disease that can be traced back to all this is very scary as well!! All we can do is the best we can to grow what we can, even as in my case, on our apt balconies if needed. Shop organic if we can and find the farmers markets too.

I was referred to the movie trailer for "Dirt", The Movie. Interesting.

Sherrye, yes we can grow a beautiful garden here in Central California.

We don't have one presently as we are looking towards moving.

But we have had many, many year round gardens here. I almost don't even need to can anything because we can have fresh food from the garden all the time here!

I got this article, too, Sherrye, and of course, I am NOT surprised.

Here's what kills me about this:

Peaches and bell peppers are among the top most-pesticide-laden crops, ok? Now, I have been on the farm for almost 2 years, so I'm a newbie to this stuff. We do not use pesticides. This year, I successfully grew a HUGE and GORGEOUS crop of peaches, and a very nice crop of peppers, without using a pesticide, one.

People need to realize that CROPS ARE SEASONAL, which would help with a lot of this silly international foods being shipped over here, and that veggies and fruits aren't perfect, and in some cases, are extremely perishable. I don't want shellac on my veggies/fruits anymore than pesticides.

All I know is, is that I don't support this practice of internationally shipped foods that could be grown in the US, nor do I support the use of pesticides and GMOs. As they said in Food, Inc., when you go to the grocery store, you are actually voting for what you accept and don't accept. You can bet your buttons I exercise my right to vote!!!

We hardly know what's in our food until there is some sort of outbreak or people start to get sick. Like this latest egg fiasco.

I'm paying more for them, but I'm buying organic eggs now.

Hubby wants to put up extra cans of veggies, ya know, just in case....ick, GMO's-check. BPA lined cans-check. I can survive 6 mos w/o veggies if I have to til I can garden again. What do you all think of his idea? Thubs down? I told him IO can get better nutrients from fresh ground wheat and my goat milk, free range eggs, pastured poultry. PS..dehydrator has a load of plums in it.

I was talking to a dietician friend today and she said she fears that cross-pollination will someday affect all crops and there won't be any organic left. She's worried about the effects of GMO's and all these pesticides on the human body and especially in babies and kids. When someone who works at a hospital is concerned, you know it's serious.

Its horrifying. I am scared to death of what all of this is doing to us and this good earth. I'm really creeped out by all of the things that we are unknowingly adding to our bodies. ICK!

It doesn't matter where you put it Sherry....I read the same article last night and I'm am even more horrified than I was before. I can only IMAGINE what kind of things are happening to our food supply that we don't even know about.
