Posted - Sep 24 2010 : 4:34:09 PM WoW! What great ambitions you all have! Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Be so kind as let me add mine:
1. Go to Norway to visit the lands of my ancestors. 2. Find a place to rent for a summer in Idaho (specifically near Garden Valley). We're working on making that happen next summer. 3. To learn to adore and treasure my hubby for who he is and not what he isn't 4. To help two friends see that the time has come to move on before they lose the memory of the great friendship they have had over the years 5. To own a small farm where I can be 75% self-sufficient before I'm too old to make it happen 6. To learn to spend more money on activities rather than stuff 7. To stop drinking pop! 8. To be able to blow one entire paycheck on something I have wanted to do forever. 9. To help a life-long friend establish a trust so the family farm of 150 years doesn't have to be sold for taxes. (Lending a listening ear here!0 10. To make a difference in EVERY student's life.
If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping! |

Posted - Sep 24 2010 : 07:27:25 AM Move to our cabin in the woods and raise our own food and live less "cluttered". Moving toward that dream next year.... I just like to see in in writing... seems closer. I guess I just want less "stuff" and more life experiences to share with our grandchildren and more stories to tell when we are older.

Posted - Sep 05 2010 : 07:56:56 AM I have a "working" bucket list in progress now. I'm taking as many "quick" courses as I can to satisfy my need for growth and learning. Currently, I'm enrolled in a language course (Italian), in case I EVER fulfill my dream of a trip, like so many of you, to Europe. Also I keep moving (fitness) so my parts don't get rusty before I fulfill my dreams.

Posted - Sep 05 2010 : 07:14:44 AM I blogged my list once: http://theparkwife.blogspot.com/2008/02/my-bucket-list.html Here are a few if you don't have time to hop over to my blog: 1. Grow old with Big Buckaroo, swinging on the porch of our cabin watching our grandkids play. 2. Raise our boys to be warrior's for Christ. 3. Write more love letters to my husband. 4. Write our love story to be passed down to our grandcildren as an example of what true love and devotion is. 5.See my boys madly in love with the woman that God has chosen for them (and for me to like them). See them get married and have families. 6. And for my Little Buckaroo, fight to have Pluto be recognized as a planet again.

Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 9:34:44 PM Melody, that's a really good insight I hadn't noticed. We haven't even had the obligatory, "Pay off all my bills," yet, I don't think. Great minds think alike, I suppose!

Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 7:27:29 PM Cindy...a few years ago I was in the midst of planning a trip to Tuscany with my oldest daughter 27 and my daughter then 15. Never managed it though because I was "downsized" and lost my job---
I would love to return to Italy-I remember bits and pieces when I was 7 and we traveled there on vacation while stationed in Germany.
It must have been a lovely trip for you!

Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 4:32:26 PM that was a wonderful thing to do for your grandma, I bet that was the ride of a lifetime for her ! |

Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 3:30:40 PM It's funny that you should mention bucket list. My Grandma has recently learned she has lung cancer which spread to the brain (more about it in the prayer section). Without stressing the seriousness of her illness, my aunts asked her what some fun things are that she has always wanted to do. Two things were : go back and visit Maine and fly in a plane again.
One aunt knows of a pilot in our town and approached him the other day at the coffee shop. After explaining the situation he said he would love to take her for a ride! And...get this...free of charge! This is a small two seater plane. Last night she was able to go on the ride of a lifetime...and he even flew to another town to fly above her house and tour the town! How awesome is that!
The reason I mention this is because it stresses to me how we all have these lists but we always think "someday..." Well, one of my dreams is to visit all 50 states. I have a slow start...have only been to about 8 or 9 so far. So I am planning a trip this winter to go through several states. Hopefully to escape the dead of winter here and Iowa and drive to somewhere warmer for a week or two! I hope that this can kick me into gear to realize that our tomorrow is never a sure thing and that we need to live for today! -Elizabeth |

Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 1:48:06 PM There is a common thread here ladies have you noticed?
TRAVEL!!! LAND!!!!
A basic, earthy, natural, and timeless desire to be one with our planet and an inner desire to explore and take in our surroundings---I think that is just AWESOME!
I didn't see one post for FURS, PEARLS, or a boat-load of cash---that just says something wonderful about the ladies on this forum-What a real blessing you all are!

Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 12:59:34 PM Oh, can I just add most everyone's list to mine?? I would LOVE to visit the Mediterranean, sit outside a little cafe on a cobblestone street, and eat something really decadent...maybe some soft music in the background...and just be. Maybe have a stunning view of the sea to watch for hours.

Posted - Aug 29 2010 : 8:56:56 PM 1) To have enough time and money to own/rent an RV and just spend months and months driving across the United States and Canada with my husband and 2 children. 2) To live in an old, old house, and be more self sufficient, basically live more simply. 3) To transform my entire front yard (where I get full sun) into one big garden, overflowing with vegetables and beautiful flowers.(I'm currently working on this one!) Posted - Aug 29 2010 : 8:48:50 PM It is my dream to hike the entire Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine, as a "thru-hiker" (doing it all at once, not segments over time). I read an article in a magazine way back when I was a teenager about a woman who did it, and I've been in love with the idea ever since. It would take about six months!

Posted - Aug 29 2010 : 3:16:32 PM I've been fortunate enough and blessed to have done most of the things I always dreamed of; finished college in Music as an older adult, took the hot air balloon ride, etc... One thing I haven't crossed off of my Bucket List is to own/ or to be owned by 17 cats!!!! Anna: You are talking my lauguage in your post; Mardi Gras, Avery Island and Tobasco Sauce. I live right down the highway from Avery Island, we never miss a meal without using Tobasco Sauce, and Mardi Gras- well... we love it. If you ever get to visit Lafayette, Louisiana, there is a great Mardi Gras there. And- if you want the old-type Mardi Gras with the horseback riders dressed up looking for chickens, visit Richard, Louisiana. Marly
